A Remembrance Day tribute to those that have fallen and to those that still fight. It is a day to commemorate the sacrifices of members of the armed forces and of civilians in times of war, specifically   more...since the First World War. It is observed on 11 November to recall the end of World War I on that date in 1918. The day was specifically dedicated by King George V, on 7 November 1919, to the observance of members of the armed forces who were killed during war.  less

We celebrate Easter
In remembrance of HIM
Of HIM who gave all…
While nailed to crossed limbs.

HE died for the souls
Of billions yet to come…

The one the door had   more...rolled from.

HE showed them the holes
Where cruel nails had once been…
Then told of our souls
And how HE’d died for ALL men.

HE called for his followers
To come then. “Come see…”
How HIS spirit was arisen
How THE FATHER set him free!

HE prayed them: “Tell the world!
How I died, but yet arose…
How I rolled back that stone
How I paid for your souls.

Tell of THE FATHER’S love
Of how he wants them to share…
Share their salvation eternal,
Because remembrance wipes away fear.

9/11 Remembrance.

Our Saturday night out was to listen to the Surrey based "Vivace Chorus" choir singing Verdi's Requiem, at Guildford Cathedral, Surrey.
The performance was dedicated to the memory of the soldiers   more...who died in the wars ... Verdi's Requiem says:
"grant them eternal rest, Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon them"
(well, it was sung in operatic in Latin - and I couldn't understand it, so the programme came in mighty handy!)
As you watch, I ask two things of you:
Please spare a thought for those who gave up their lives for the blessings you now enjoy.
And, on 11th November at 11am, whatever you happen to be doing at the time, please pause for 2 minutes silence in remembrance of those brave men who suffered (and continue to do so even to this day) on your behalf.
