One rainy Sunday...

Banana Day... Awesome.... also, oddly enough, why I am uncool.

April 22, 2006 - my Senior Recital at West Chester University... I had to produce and present an more... hour's worth of music... It was a lot of fun, and there were a couple awesome performances by   more...my friends that night (whom I am forever grateful for!!) All work is ©Michael J Weaver unless otherwise noted... I wanted to begin the performance with a witty jab at the people who come out on stage and say "uh, yeah, turn your cell phones off n00bs". I feel like that is one of the rudest things... ever. So this is my way of letting people know that I'd rather not hear a horrible MIDI version of Mozart's 'Turkish Rondo' in the middle of one of my pieces! And you know what?... it worked!  less

This was the 3rd piece, Willindipediosity.... basically my jab at avant garde music.... heh  less

It was a lot of fun, and there were a couple awesome performances by   more...my friends that night (whom I am forever grateful for!!)... This was the 7th piece of the recital, a short interlude inserted to facilitate the set change on stage. Obviously not my own composition, but arranged by myself for boomwhackers. The first person who can tell me the name of the piece, where it's from, and who wrote it gets 5 hits on their videos! Performed by the West Chester University Boomwhacker Choir, an impromptu ensemble that was formed for this performance! (and disbanded shortly after!) Finally, special thanks to Dan Beal for his interpretive dance!  less

The 2nd piece of the program was my 'Fugal Suite for Double Reeds' performed by the Almost Alliteration Quartet... so named because their names have the initials HH, MM, SS.... and JK. This piece is based on the traditional suite movements (Allemande, Sarabande, Courante, Gigue.. look it up, it's good stuff!) to which I gave a little twist by adding a fugue between each movement. There's a lot of counterpoint goodness going on there! I would love to have the opportunity to have this recorded some time professionally (and with a bit more rehearsak time... and with a working contrabassoon!)  less

This was the 4th piece of the evening, "Higher Ambitions" for Violin and Piano - Emily MacLean on the piano... and a special thank to Ayree Koh who learned this piece in 4 days after my original violinist copped out on me!
