A speedrun of Surface Tension in Donkey Kong Land 3. I was expecting this run to be more exciting, but it ended up being more boring than I hoped. It's still a fairly good run, though.

The Rocket Run theme in Donkey Kong Land 3. Wait, what? The Rocket Run theme is in this game? Yes it is! Strangely, even though the music is in the game, it isn't used anywhere. So the only way you can   more...listen to it is if you hack the ROM so that it plays this theme (though I've also heard of someone's cartridge getting screwed up and it played this song as well). It took me a while to find the song in the ROM, but I found it!

In Donkey Kong Country 3, though, you can hear it in Rocket Rush, the last non-boss level in the game.

In case anybody cares, I recorded this from the Japanese version for GBC, but I don't think it matters (I've heard that it was in the English version for GB as well). I also used VBA-M instead of VBA 1.8.0, because that seems to be the most accurate version of VBA, sound-wise.

I have not heard any other unused themes in this game, though. I also tried looking in DKL2, and didn't find any unused ones in the game, either. I have heard of some rumors of a couple unused songs in DKL, though...

Here's a glitch that's been bugging me for a while now. In the GBC version of DKL3, the default demo (the Jetty Jitters one, the one that appears if you don't press any buttons on the title screen) doesn't   more...play properly. After Kiddy hits the Klasp, Dixie's movements get screwed up and she just randomly moves around. She then gets hit by a Klasp as well. The GB version doesn't do this -- even after hitting the Klasp, Dixie still moves like normal. I don't know why the GBC version is any different, seeing that it has the exact same game engine and physics. Maybe Rare screwed up when porting it?

It's worth noting that none of the other three demos (Rickety Rapids, Deep Reef Grief, Whiplash Dash) are glitchy. They play just like the GB version. So why did THIS one screw up?

Also, I heard that there's a similar glitch at the end of the Xbox 360 port of Banjo-Kazooie...

A speedrun of Koco Channel. As usual, I get the bonus and DK coins. I skip Squitter because it's faster to go without him. You're SUPPOSED to get that first bonus with Squitter, but I just float over   more...with Dixie instead.
OK, now for the REAL reason why I uploaded this video: I wanted to show off my color palette hack of this game. About a year ago, I figured out to hack color palettes in GBC games and this was one of the first games (not the very first one, though...) that I attempted to modify color palettes. My biggest change is that I made the river levels have this autumn look (like Bobbing Barrel Brawl in DKC3), and I REALLY liked how it turned out. You'll notice that some of the other changes I made were some of the sprites, and Dixie's and Kiddy's clothes (especially Kiddy's) in the bonus screens (based off the COLOR "cheat" in DKC3). So, this is the first video where I've shown a hack of a DK game.

Just a couple of glitches that I found. The first glitch is one where you can jump on a Lurchin if it hits the top of the water. The timing of this must be EXACT, and it's really difficult to do. It's   more...funny to watch, though... (If anybody cares, I just found this glitch a couple of days ago by accident!)
The second one is the steel keg glitch. Unlike in DKC3, steel kegs don't float on water (they must have somehow gotten more dense). So if it hits an enemy while it sinks into water, it defeats it! (I actually knew about this one when I first had the game, because this one is easy to do by accident.)

The Game Over screen in the Japanese version of DKL3. Based off the one in DKC3, and same as the American version of DKL3 except with color. (Duh.) Many people think this screen is creepy...

This is just a little of something from one of the Gameboy classics. Because I've been so busy with school I haven't been able to upload anything here in a while. But I'm still alive and well.

A speedrun of Deck Trek in Donkey Kong Land.

The physics are really odd in Donkey Kong Land. Not only can you jump up ropes like in other DKC and DKL games to go faster, but it's much easier than it is   more...in other games! In this game, all you have to do is hold Up and keep pressing A. It's really weird to watch, so this run takes advantage of the technique as much as possible.

A speedrun of Freezing Fun in Donkey Kong Land. The physics are interesting in this game in that you speed up a LOT when you bounce off of enemies -- the exact opposite with other games. This ends up   more...being really fun to do in this level, where I come up with lots of creative ways to speed up by bouncing off of enemies. The only real mistake is around the O, where I miss the second Hogwash and stop for a bit.

I skip the O and the K to save time.  less

A speed run of Vertigo Verge. I get the bonus and DK coins. I do pretty well in this run, though I kinda messed up right before the Star Barrel. But other than that, it's pretty good.

Oh, and I LOVE the   more...graphics and music in this level...  less

Another speed run in DKL3! This time I did another waterfall level. Rocketeer Rally! This is really similar to Rocket Barrel Ride in DKC3... with all the rocket barrels and whatnot. And it's just as easy   more...too! Fun level, though. I get the bonuses and DK coin, as usual. And I used the trick where Koin can be off the screen to save time!

EDIT: Darn it... sound is slightly off. Oh well. At least it SOUNDS better than my older DKL3 videos...  less

A speedrun of Jetty Jitters. I get the DK coin and both bonus coins. When getting the DK coin, I abuse some glitch where the barrel rolls past Koin (this also works in BOTH versions of DKC3). This level   more...is similar to Kreeping Klasps, but without any piranhas on the bottom, and the Klasps are slower and dumber. By the way, I know how to get the sound to be more accurate! It sounds like a real Game Boy now!  less

A speedrun of Minky Mischief in DKL3. This one is OK... mainly because the level is hard to do fast. I do the Squawks part pretty well because I don't get hit and I don't slow down much. I only get hit   more...once, and that was on purpose, because it's easier to go through the Bristles than wait for it to turn around.
I also think the tree music is annoying in this game, and that the tree levels are a little too bright... like the ones in GBA DKC3...  less

An old speedrun of Stalagmite Frights. This is one of the hardest because one of the ghost barrels doesn't always point in the direction you want it to go, which wastes some time. This took me a lot of   more...restarts, so this was as good as it got...  less

A somewhat old speedrun of Rickety Rapids. I do this level pretty efficiently, and make few mistakes. The biggest mistake is getting hit at the very end, but overall I get a good time, and more than 20   more...seconds under the required time.  less

A really old speedrun of Ford Knocks. This is a fairly fast speed run and is hard to break. I make it to the exit in 0:42:33, though I've done slightly faster before...

A video of the first cave level in DKL. I get the KONG letters and the bonus stages. I also abuse a trick where you can keep jumping to get under tight gaps faster. This also works in the SNES version   more...of DKC.
