The American Civil Liberties Union wants to know why the Pentagon has assigned a fighting unit to the United States itself. On October 1st, the Northern Command, for the first time ever, got its own dedicated   more...Army force. The unit the Pentagon assigned to NorthCom is the 3rd Infantry, First Brigade Combat Team, which has spent three of the last five years in Iraq. One of its specialties is counterinsurgency. “This is a radical departure from separation of civilian law enforcement and military authority and could, quite possibly, represent a violation of law,” said Mike German, ACLU national security policy counsel. “Our Founding Fathers understood the threat that a standing army could pose to American liberty,” he added. German also noted that Congress has “passed statutory protections to ensure that the Army could not be turned against the American people.” The ACLU is seeking documents from the Justice Department, the Pentagon, and Homeland Security that “authorize the deployment of military troops for domestic purposes.” United States Northern Command is a Unified Combatant Command of the United States military. Created on October 1, 2002 in the aftermath of the September 11th attacks, its mission is to protect the United States homeland and support local, state, and federal authorities. The Law states on Video recording are as follows:
Sources: Alabama Code Sections 13A-11-30 through 13A-11-35;
Chandler v. State, 680 So.2d 1018 (Ala. Crim. App. 1996).
It is a misdemeanor in Alabama to commit criminal surveillance, which
encompasses visual observation or photography. Surveillance is defined
as the secret observation of activities of another person for the purpose
of spying on and invading the privacy of the person observed. A person
violates the law if he intentionally engages in surveillance while
trespassing in a private place: that is, a place where the subject might
reasonably expect to be safe from such observation.
A private place is not a place where the public or "a substantial
group of the public" has access. For instance, a hotel room would
normally be considered private, but a hotel lobby would not. Mere
observation from a public street does not constitute surveillance.
Because laws governing criminal surveillance are written in broader
terms than those concerning criminal eavesdropping, criminal
surveillance is classified as a Class B (less serious) misdemeanor,
whereas eavesdropping is a Class A misdemeanor.
As with audio recording, it is illegal to divulge information that
someone else obtained through criminal surveillance.
When you do these types of actions make sure never to bring an ID
card... first of all they are not required, and I am pretty positive God
does not require them ... and God also said not to worship engraved
images. Just identify yourself by stating your given name, and that you
do not use identification cards. When he tells you to turn off the camera
remind him that he is in the public domain, and he has already given up
his rights to privacy by knowingly approaching someone with a video
camera. Also remind him that threatening arrest under "color of law" is a
felony as well, and never turn the camera off... if they do not like it then
they can leave, or if they get pushy then just walk away.
