“Brotherly Love, A Vision of Hope” is a bold and innovative documentary project, designed to bring those in the shadows of modern society into the light of recognition, understanding and acceptance. The   more...belief that a society is judged by the way it treats its poor and helpless is the cornerstone of this photographic/multimedia essay.

With support and logistical assistance from Philadelphia Councilwoman Jannie Blackwell, Photojournalist/Artist Ron Modro, photographed and recorded the stories of those living in the shadows, to show the hardship of life on the streets, by going into the shelter system to tell their stories from their perspective.
The idea is to create a public multi-media exhibition using photographs and video to show the human side of life on the streets. Taking those in the shadows from a life of invisibility, to a life at the forefront of the movement to create change in the way America sees its poor and homeless.  less

My thoughts on citizen journalism.

I have never gotten so much satisfaction assembling an article as I did producing this one. This article is the culmination of efforts of concerned Americans across this country and certainly those that   more...participate on this blog. A special thanks goes to commenter JoyceAZ, who cared enough about this country to travel to the Las Vegas Tea Party, take photos and write a report. Thank God that she did. The story was barely touched by the local media in Las Vegas and the Main Stream media nationwide.  less

After hearing this morning about an area school closing due to a possible outbreak of Swine Flu, I put aside my normal work of making fun of Islamic Radicals and dove headfirst into a local story with   more...Global Implications.

I spoke to Bob Dawkins, the Headmaster of Newberry Academy - a private school located halfway between Columbia and Greenville South Carolina - in the small town of Newberry, S More..outh Carolina.

Dawkins said that of 13 students who visited Cancun over Spring Break, 12 eventually fell ill, and others - even outside the school - who had not gone were infected by students from Newberry Academy. However, Dawkins said that even those students whose illness was confirmed to be Swine Flu have already recovered from what he called a, "Mild illness."

The school will remain closed through the weekend, and will reopen Monday morning.  less
