OU officials say this helps them reach their goal of doing more than providing cancer care. Ding is the first researcher in Oklahoma to be awarded this grant. The Dallas, Texas-based Komen Foundation was created by founder Nancy G. Brinker as a promise to her dying sister, Susan G. Komen. The organization promises to invest more than $2 billion over the next decade in breast health care and treatment for the underserved, and in research to discover the causes of breast cancer and, ultimately, its cures.  less
