1. DR. SANJAY GUPTAS SICKO REALITY CHECK:
Segment that preceded Michael Moores heated interview with The Beard, on CNN.

2. MICHAEL MOORE INTERVIEW 7/9/07:
Then, Michael Moore went off on Wolfie and CNN for   more...a hit piece they aired about Sicko right before he came on. He was hot! He slapped the beard around pretty goodHe says hell post the facts refuting their claims on his website tonight. He then attacked CNN and Blitzer for not doing their job in the run up to the war (where were you when it mattered?) and said that everything he said about the Iraq war did come to pass. He wondered why it took him so many years to get Cheney on teevee? He asked when America will get sick and tired of the crap they show
Moore: Why dont you tell the truth to the American people? I mean I wish that CNN and th eother mainstream media would just for once tell the truth.You fudged the facts about this issue-about the war and Im just curious. When are you going to aplogize to the American people for not bringing the truth to them that isnt sponsored by some major corporation?

Wolfie didnt know what to say for a while and tried to ask him some questions about Sicko, but he got even the most basic elements of the film wrong. Moore did not attack Hillary Clinton in the movie. He praised her efforts to try to change health care for the country in Sicko, but was stopped cold in her tracks as you already know. He did point out that she was getting a lot of campaign contributions from the industry

There has been a lot of buzz around both the interview and Dr. Sanjay Guptas reality check which aired just before the interview, setting Moore off.

3. DR. SANJAY GUPTA RESPONDS TO MICHAEL MOORE INTERVIEW:
The next day, Sanjay Gupta gives not quite a response to Moore's statements. He is kinda avoiding confrontation, now that he sees how worked up Moore can get.

Wolfe had a Freudian slip at the beginning, saying they did a "set up piece" before the Moore interview, then corrected himself by calling it a background piece. Sanjay has been in a position to chronicle America's healthcare crisis, and he has been suspiciously silent on the issue for most of that time. He primarily does fluff pieces for CNN, rarely getting into the nuts and bolts of real health issues. Don't believe anything on CNN. CNN is the moderate version of FOX "News." Believe nothing from the two.

4. MICHAEL MOORE INTERVIEW Part 2:
CNN aired the second half of the interview 9/10/07

While the second half of the interview was a bit more subdued, Moore was still passionate in making his points. Blitzer throws out some criticisms and Moore slaps them all down, even claiming that an Iranian news agency is reporting that Moore is going to be traveling to Iran to show his new film. Of course, Moore laughs it off and asks if Fox News was really behind that story. At the end of the interview Moore thanks Wolfie for telling him he liked the movie during the break.

Sen. Pat Leahy wants to have a chat with Patrick Fitzgerald and then echoed what Schumer said on Face the Nation and acknowledged that commuting Libbys sentence was a great way to buy his silence.

"George Bush commuted Scooters sentence rather than pardoning him to Shut. Him. Up. The notion that he did it to split the difference and respect the jurys decision is just absurd. He did it to cover his own tracks, which is exactly why Congress should be looking into the whole matter."

I couldnt agree more.

Do you have a problem, Senator Leahy, with anything the president decided in terms of the legality of what he did? He was within his right to commute the sentence.

LEAHY: The president has a constitutional right or has the constitutional power to commute sentences of anybody he wants. I wish he had shown more constitutional responsibility. Just as I was critical of some of the pardons by President Clinton, former President Bush or President Reagan, Ive said they have the power to do it, but I didnt think they used good judgment.

It was not a surprise he did this. It was generally assumed, certainly in Washington, by Republicans I talked with, that the president would give Scooter Libby a get out of jail free card. Its interesting he commuted the sentence. He didnt give an out and out pardon. That way Scooter Libby can take the fifth amendment if he wants as far as any testimony before (inaudible).

(CROSSTALK)

BLITZER: Well, I was going to ask you, Senator Leahy. Do you want to hold hearings on this whole issue?

LEAHY: No, because hes got a fifth amendment right that he can still do. I mean, this was, actually in my view, a blatant way of guaranteeing that Scooter Libby would not talk about the things that were done, you know, some of the misleading information given out by Vice President Cheney and the president. They led us into this war in Iraq, and they bought his silence. I can understand why the prosecutor was so angry about it.

BLITZER: Youre talking about Patrick Fitzgerald, your colleague, Senator

LEAHY: Also the fact

BLITZER: I was going to say

LEAHY: Also the fact that he was given, when the president talked about a severe sentence, he was given at the low end of the sentencing guidelines. People have been given much, much harsher sentences than he was given.

BLITZER: Senator Schumer of the Judiciary Committee wants you to call Patrick Fitzgerald to testify before your committee on this whole issue. Do you want to do that?

LEAHY: Thats something I would discuss with Senator Specter before I did, but I know how concerned Mr. Fitzgerald is.

And we may very well find ourselves going down that path. It would do no good to call Scooter Libby. His silence has been bought and paid for, and he would just take the fifth.  less
