Bert: Ha, this is great! Ernie's sleeping at the count's tonight, so I have the place all to myself! For once, I know he's not going   more...to wake me up! Ha, no surprises, just peace and quiet! I'll just settle in under my blanket, and go to sleep!
(Music starts).
Bert: Perhaps I spoke too soon!
(Sheep enter the bathroom).
JN Sheep: Baa! C'mon, he's not a-sheep yet! We just thought you'd like to know where your blanket came from!
Bert: Wha- my blanket? Uh, I-I-I-I know where my blanket came from!
(Sung)
JN Sheep: A blanket begins in a far away place,
(Scene fades to a field of sheep).
where skys are blue and there's lots of space. The nights are cold and we sleep outside. To keep warm and toasty, we grow hair on our hide. But when Spring comes 'round, the weather is warm! A thick, wooly coat looses all of its charm!
(Ernie enters the scene, as a rancher).
We're itchy and hot, till a rancher arrives, to give us each a haircut, and brighten up our lives!
CB sheep: Ba, ba, ba, ba, ba!
JN sheep: He grabs a big bag, and he gathers the wool, and he stuffs, and he crams, till the bag are full. He throws them on the truck, till it's piled up high, then he climbs into the driver's seat and says...
JN sheep and Ernie: ...goodbye!
(Scene fades back to the bedroom).
Sheep: That's the story of Bert's blanket!
CB sheep: Bert's blanket!
Sheep: That's the story of Bert's blanket! That's the story of Bert's blanket! That's the story of Bert's blanket!
(Spoken)
Bert: H-h-hey sheep, sheep? Aren't you gonna tell what happens next?
RH sheep: Oh, so I suppose someone waves a magic wand and *poof*, our wool turns into a blanket, and lands on your beeeeeeeeeeed.
Bert: No! That's not what happens to your wool! Now listen!
(Sung)
Bert: It goes to a mill before it lands in bed, cause it's gotta be twirled into long, strong thread, and it's gotta get dyed to a nice, dull grey, then wolven into clough, before it's sent on its way!
(Spoken)
Bert: Get the picture?
Sheep: Yes, we see!
Bert: Well, there's more!
(Sung)
CB sheep: Ba, ba, ba, ba, ba!
Bert: A few more touches, and goes to a store, where it's put on a shelf; it's not long before a warm, great blanket catches someone's eye; he says, "Hey, that's the blanket I've been longing to buy!".
JN sheep: Well, I'll be dag-nammed!
RH sheep: So THAT'S what happens!
(Sung)
CB sheep: Ba, ba, ba, ba, ba!
Bert: So when you climb in bed before you go to sleep, as you're snuggling in your covers, please think of these sheep!
JN sheep: We'll be back on the range, and doing our best to keep those blankets coming from our rich in the west!

Episode 0560

Ernie has a licorice whip that he offers to share with Bert. He divides the licorice in half with a pair of scissors, but   more...then discovers that Bert's half is longer than his. He cuts off a little bit of Bert's half, and eats it. Then he discovers that his own half is longer than Bert's, and that's not fair, so he cuts a bit off of his own, and eats it. Ernie goes back and forth, shaving off more and more, until the licorice whip is gone.

Bert says that he and Ernie are looking at the "Mysterious Nose-Snatcher." Ernie, disagreeing,   more...walks closer and closer to the camera to see. His face begins to black out the screen...but when he moves back into view, his nose is missing!

Ernie wakes up and tells Bert it's time to get up, but notices that Bert isn't in his bed. He slowly ponders what happened to his best friend, coming to the conclusion   more...that maybe some Martians took him away in their spaceship. As it turns out, Bert just got up early to fix some oatmeal. Ernie is relieved... until a real spaceship lands and the Yip Yip Martians enter the room!
