I wrote this song during the South Africa's Apartheid era, when interracial relationships were against the law of the country. It comes as a bit of a shock to realise that there were also laws against   more...interracial marriage in some American states until the late nineteen-sixties.

My song is closely based on John Jacob Niles well-known arrangement of the traditional song, "Black is the Colour of My True Love's Hair."
