Koji is a very sweet and loving dog. He absolutely adores his foster family. We rescued him from certain death at Lafayette Animal Control. He was heartworm positive when we got him. He has been through   more...heartworm treatments, and has been on heartworm prevention ever since he finished treatment. We got him neutered and fully vetted. He is still looking for a forever home.

Koji is a very smart dog. He will dance on command. He also knows come and sit and leave it. He is a great house dog. He is wonderful with kids, dogs, and even cats!  less

Meet Hazel (Calico) and Sylvia (Tuxedo) two young kittens now available for adoption. Acadiana Humane Society took these adorable sisters in when they were just tiny orphaned babies. Michelle bottle fed   more...them and gave them lots of TLC. They are now about 8 weeks old, up to date on shots, dewormed, microchipped, and spayed, and looking for their new homes!  less

We have a waiting list of people wanting to adopt a rescued Guinea Pig. I told the local animal control that I wanted them to let me know the next time they had a Guinea Pig surrendered. On Friday, March   more...28, 2008 I got a phone call to come and get 24 Guinea Pigs that someone was at the pound surrendering. I told her I did not think I had enough cages. But, that I would look and see what I had before I went. They called back a few minutes later and said that someone took 5, so there was only 19 left. After setting up cages, we went and picked them up. This photo was taken when we were loaded up and ready to leave animal control. When we got home we counted them, and found we had 23 Guinea Pigs, as a litter had been born while in the pound. They will all be available for adoption soon.  less

We rescued this beautiful Chocolate and White Abyssinian Guinea Pig from Roicy Duhon Animal Control (Lafayette Animal Control), along with 22 other guinea pigs. She, and several other piggies, were already   more...pregnant when we saved them from certain death. She gave birth to four babies on April 8, 2008. As you can see in this video, the babies want to stay as close to Mom as possible. They follow her everywhere. Once weaned, they will be available for adoption through the Acadiana Humane Society and Cat Ranch.  less

Mandy, one of our foster kittens, is very friendly with just about any kind of animal. She loves rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, and ferrets. Bells on bob tails ring, making the spirits of Summer the sad young Catahoula bright
What fun it is to howl and sing said Snoopy (Beagle Terrier) and Kelly the Pug a sleighing song tonight
Oh, jingle bells, jingle bells, sang Cameron the Yellow Lab, jingle all the way

Everyone is busy getting ready for the holidays but the dogs and cats at Roicy Duhon Animal Control (LACC) are very patiently waiting and hoping not to be left behind.
There are many new dogs dumped like trash in the outside holding pen. These dogs and cats were once loyal family members and deserve so much better.
Please don't forget them.
Lots of cats and some great kittens including the little black kitten that has been held over many times. New cats include a gorgeous young Dilute Calico kitten, 3 green-eyed orange and white kittens, a pretty male Siamese mix, a gray and white Tuxedo, and a Tabby and white with very cool and unusual facial markings.

Poor Max (a Malinois mix) was adopted as a puppy from Roicy only to be dumped AGAIN as he got to be a young adult. Many small dogs including Terrier mixes, Pug, Chi, and Doxie mixes, an itty bitty Rat Terrier, a female Doberman that has recently had pups, a gorgeous young German Shepherd, Heeler mix, and cute wirehair Terrier.

Please look at the photos and see if you can make room for just one. To make sure that these great pets are safe, please come to the shelter before 5 PM on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007. Thank you for giving these dogs and cats a second chance.

Please note: The animals in this video are in the euthanizing facility of Lafayette Animal Control. The Acadiana Humane Society and My Cat Ranch are a no-kill animal rescue. We do not have the space or the funds to save all of these animals ourselves. We post this video, and do whatever else we can, to raise awareness of the plight of these animals. This is Daisy. A friend rescued her from Lafayette Animal Control.and called us to see if we could take care of her and find her a home. I was holding her today, when I noticed she makes a lot of noise   more...when I pet her across her left side. When I pet her along the back of her head and neck, she is quiet. But, when I touch the area where I point to near the end of this video, she always makes noise. I'm wondering if there is something wrong with her.  less
