E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial for the Atari 2600 played using the emulator called Stella, recorded with a freeware video capture program called CamStudio.

This is a general example, a fairly quick one where   more...I just get E.T. home. I wasn't trying for a speed record, but it is faster than some supposed 'speed runs' you'll find on the Internet. Notice that I also show E.T. being taken by the scientist and also escaping from him. (This video has no sound.)

OK, so you want to know how they put the game together back in the 1980's when you get an Atari System (2600 back then). Here, you will see the company, Imagic, design team, on planning, write the program,   more...and put it together. Back then the game was programmed on COBOL, a computer programing language (like UNIX). Memory was part of the big factor when putting the game together. This was shown on PBS from Enterprise series long time ago. Title of this one is "All in the Game". Off topic, they did a documentary of a first major airline that filed for bankrupty and did went bankrupt which is Baniff Airlines.  less
