Nineteen Eighty-Four was a British television adaptation of the novel of the same name by George Orwell, originally broadcast on BBC Television in the winter of 1954. The production proved to be hugely controversial, with questions asked in Parliament and many viewer complaints over its supposed subversive nature and horrific content. In a 2000 poll of industry experts conducted by the British Film Institute to determine the 100 Greatest British Television Programmes of the 20th century, Nineteen Eighty-Four was ranked in seventy-third position.
The play provoked something of an upset. There were complaints both about the "horrific" content (particularly the infamous Room 101 scene where Smith is threatened with torture by rats) and the "subversive" nature of the play. Most were worried by the depiction of a totalitarian governmental regime controlling the population's freedom of thought, and four Members of Parliament from the governing Conservative Party tabled motions in the House of Commons for the scheduled Thursday second performance to be cancelled. There was also a report in the Daily Express newspaper of 42-year-old Beryl Merfin of Herne Bay collapsing and dying as she watched the production, under the headline "Wife dies as she watches", allegedly from the shock of what she had seen.

Amidst objections the BBC went ahead with the performance, although the decision went to the heights of the Board of Governors, which narrowly voted in favour of the second performance. This was even introduced live on camera by Head of Drama Michael Barry himself, who had already appeared on the Monday's edition of the topical news programme Panorama to defend the production. The seven million viewers who did tune in for the Thursday performance constituted the largest television audience in the UK since the Coronation the previous year, and even the Queen and Prince Philip made it known publicly that they had watched and enjoyed the play.

When it had become clear what an important production Nineteen Eighty-Four was, it was arranged for the second performance to be telerecorded onto 35mm film the first performance having simply disappeared off into the ether, as it was shown live, seen only by those who were watching on the Sunday evening. At this stage, Videotape recording was still at the development stage and television images could only be preserved on film by using a special recording apparatus (known as "telerecording" in the UK and "kinescoping" in the USA), but was only used sparingly, then in Britain for historic preservation reasons and not for pre-recording. It is thus the second performance that survives in the archives, one of the earliest surviving British television dramas.

Taliban police arrested Ridley in September when she was trying to enter the tribal regions of Pakistan   more...via unusual paths in Jalalabad province's Door Rubaya district dressed in the all-enveloping abaya.

She was initially held in Jalalabad and later shifted to Kabul. Immediately after her release and arrival in Pakistan, when asked by a massive crowd of journalists about her treatment by the Taliban, she said they were like brothers.

On her release and return to England Yvonne Ridley Tolf the said that she had not seen such noble, brave and straight-forward men like the Taliban in all her life.

At a Human rights Conference held at the University of Leicester in England on the 12th May 2002 the right wing British Journalist Yvonne Ridley who was arrested and held by the Taliban made some startling statements concerning Islam and her treatment at the hands of the taliban."When I was released everyone expected me to relay horrific tales of brutality (but the) Taliban treated me with great respect" and with great deliberation she added "..very very well". She went on to say that whilst the taliban had its faults but they were on the whole 'likeable'. However this was not what the west wanted to hear, they could not be seen to be bombing a people who were 'likeable.
In exchange for her treatment at the hands of the Taliban she promised them she would read the Koran upon her return to the UK.

As a result of this she claimed that what she discovered about Islam was an eye opener , describing Islam as "a great unifier, a religion of social justice, it transcends race and national borders. Islam has inspired more Scholars, mystics and poets then soldiers" going on to say "since the crusades the west has held a stereotypical image of Islam, (that) women are subjugated is a nonsense. I admire the way it supports and promotes women." adding how people often mix up religion and cultures.

Once you've thought about it, if you still want it, then make up your mind. A mind made up will not waver easily. So whatever happens, DON'T change your mind. This is a solid promise to yourself and the beginning of a miracle.

Step 2. Write It Down.

Writing this goal down engages your mind, emotions and actions. This builds your commitment to get to the top. Your mind thinks it, your heart feels, your body acts it. Take this seriously. Use a notebook you like or a fancy paper. Make sure to put the date on it. Each day, take some time to write it out and read it. Write it in the present tense. Write " I'm a ...in XYZ company". Be sure to use "I am".

Step 3. Pretend It.

Do you day dream? Yes, you do. Create a day dream about your goal to get to the top of your compensation plan. Let's do it now. Relax your body, mind and emotions. Pretend that you're at the top, this moment. Watch a movie of you in your mind. You hear your name called, you see thousands of reps and hear their thunderous applause. You feel the excitement. Smile, yes smile big. You're at the top and lovin' it. Day dream for about 10 minutes or more. The best times to pretend this way are when you wake up and just before you go to sleep. This will explode your belief.

Step 4. Work Your Plan.

Plan your work and work your plan. Decide on the actions you'll take daily to get to the top. Then take these actions. Be honest with yourself. Do you know what actions you need to take? Do you need some skills? Your actions should be in the areas of Prospecting, Presenting, and Closing. Don't forget personal development. When you plan your work and work your plan, you move in the direction of your goal. Give this your best shot every day.

Step 5. Let Go, Let Gratitude.

When you make up your mind, write it down, pretend it, work your plan, you've done your part. Really you have. Simply count your blessings and give thanks for them. Let the miracle work it self out. Don't fret or worry. Be at peace and know you're at the top. Give thanks for other areas of your life. Help others in gratitude. Let go. Let gratitude flow in your life. Even in the way you treat other people and react to situations. There's no where for you to go but the top.

These simple steps have helped a lot of people get to the top of their compensation plans. They can help you too. You must practice the steps persistently and consistently. Just make up your mind, write it down, pretend it, work your plan, and let go, let gratitude.
