These are some of the Papier Mache sculptures by my friend and fellow filmmaker buddy, Larry Lo Presti. He's the writer/Director/Creaturemaker, among other things, for our movie "Night of the Necroluna,   more...a trailer to which you can find here in my videos.

The beauty of Larry's approach to Papier Mache' is that it enables him to work very quickly, and thus his final pieces have a wild spontainaeity to them, like 3D sketches in space. A lot of typical Papier Mache' can have a rather stiff look to it, but Larry's work has more "animation" to it. At our group art exhibits, Larry almost always sells out all the pieces he puts in the show, AND you can commission him to do custom work for you at any size--and you'll be surprised at how inexpensive he is! This sequence was originally shot to be the opening title sequence to another friend's horror anthology movie, that never quite got off the ground(The big golden book in "Necroluna" was originally constructed as the central narrative link prop for this movie as well). The director of that movie slowly rotated a lazy susan with the sculptures on it while I shot some slow zooms.

The music is another original composition of mine called "Ave Gynorrah" (as in "Ave Maria", not "Avenue") which is a sort of theme song to "Night of the Necroluna". Don't try to make out any of the lyrics. The only important part is "Ave Gynorrah" and the rest is just pretty much organized gibberish (which I speak fluently).  less
