Despite a 1993 apology from the Government of Japan, in early March, 2007, then Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe made comments amounting to a denial of the fact that Korean, Chinese, Indonesian, Taiwanese   more...and Filipino women were forced to serve as prostitutes during WWII. Many had been kidnapped, or tricked into leaving their homes, but all were forced to serve as “comfort women” in military brothels for the Imperial Army. Many did not survive. Private Members’ Bills were passed in Canada and the United States calling for an apology from Prime Minister Abe. That apology came less than a month later. But, within every cloud is a silver lining, and these women, at a late stage of their lives, fought for what they wanted and won - a true testament to their spirit that needed some recognition.

On July 25, 1946, a group of Walton County klansmen ambushed 4 black sharecroppers, pulled them out of a car, dragged them down an embankment, and shot them with 60 rounds of ammunition. I met him and his wife   more...earlier this year through my business. In May 2007, I called and
asked if my daughter Rachel could interview him for a school project on the Holocaust.
They were both very gracious and invited us over.
I will be adding two more parts to this video with the actual interview with Prince Alfred
and his wife Princess Jean.

Yes it does seem very odd that hemp was used so extensively, to the
point of being the dominant fiber for use in fabrics, only to now be

During WWII, Japanese American families turn to baseball as a way to handle their plight and find a symbol for their own of honor and pride.

I took a friend of mine touring around Arlington Cemetary and the Washington DC Mall for the Cherry Blossom Festival this weekend.

We went to the tomb of the unknown soldier and watched the changing of   more...the guard, the Washington Monument, the WWII Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial. We also saw the annual kite flying contest at the Washington Monument.

Of all the years I have lived in this area, this is the first time I've ever gone to the Cherry Blossom Festival, the Cemetary or the kite flying. It was cool. A good time was had by all.  less
