Duxford - Spit & Harvard arrive then tour round workshop

One of the most unusual, daring and elegant airshow 'acts' a couple of decades ago was the pairing of two of RAF Coningsby's denizens, the ADV Tornado and BBMF Spitfire (Mk XIX). Saw this a couple of   more...times and was awe-struck each time. Definitely one of the all time best airshow routines. Wonder if they will do it with the Typhoon and Spitfire. But wouldn't it be sublime if there was an airworthy Hawker Typhoon that could fly with the its modern equivalent? I often wonder whether anyone thought about calling the jet Typhoon II. Maybe that would offend the parnter nations. On that subject the JSF should really be Lightning III maybe? How could they forget the RAF's EE Lightning? I don't.  less

Spitfires and Yak (?) at Duxford - lining up for the airshow several marks of Spitfire and the home P51 and then a Aerostars Yak flies in with a nice victory roll and then we get a glimpse of the Rapide   more...which gives pleasure flights (more of that in a later clip) BTW my very firt flight was in a plane like this. It was about 1980 at Sywell. What a debut, what an experience. Not long after it was the usual succession of air 'buses' various Boeing and Douglas products and the odd Jetranger, glider and F27 etc.  less

Avro Lancaster over Bletchley Park - their annual special open day has the BBMF fly over a few times. Pity it couldn't have been armed to bomb the crap out of the hordes of pervos dressed up as Nazis   more...and Sovs! Nearly freaked me out. BP is near us, our claim to fame in an otherwise bleak city (ho ho) - you know the place where WW2 was won...?! Stay tuned for more and the Spitfire flypast.  less
