Shinichiro is a student living in what would be a dream come true for most high school boys, but for him is mostly a frustration. Her father was a close friend of the family, and when he died they immediately took her in. She is popular and well liked, always smiles, is talented in sports- but Shinichiro knows there must be tears inside her. Having an artistic tendency, he makes watercolours of her and thinks about wishing to ease her tears. Yet he cannot bring up the nerve to talk to her even in his own home. She, too, is quiet and withdrawn in their house, quite unlike at school. Shinichiro is also distracted by teasing from his friend Nobuse for watching Hiromi from afar, a curse of bad luck from a strange girl named Noe, and being forced to perform Muhiga dancing. By helping Noe he hopes to ease his own problems, yet he seems to have difficulty helping himself.  less

Being billed as a Production I.G’s 20th anniversary project in collaboration with Shirow Masamune, Ghost Hound has three boys who all experienced trauma in their childhood and have learned a sort of soul   more...escape that lets their spirits enter what’s called the Unseen World. The character designs might look very familiar because they’re done by Oka Mariko of Jigoku Shoujo fame, but more importantly, several members of the staff from Serial Experiments Lain are working on this including the director and writer.  less

Blue Drop is the story of two girls: one who is the sole survivor of a mysterious incident where all the people of an island disappeared, and the other who is an alien sent to Earth to do reconnaissance   more...for an invasion. Like the manga it’s based on, the anime looks to have yuri themes (the aliens only have one gender - female), and as it’s been a while since I’ve watched a yuri show, I’m looking forward to seeing how it turns out. The animation quality looks like it’ll be really good too, so I’ve got my fingers crossed in hopes that this won’t disappoint  less
