In 1979, some friends and I were messing around with a video camera in a slum area of town that had largely burned down and never been rebuilt.

The video camera was old,   more...with a heavy, over the shouder separate deck, obsolete even then. We saw some stuff flying around the buildings. At first we thought they were kites or maybe some radio controlled toy planes. We never did figure out what they were, but we got some of the stuff on video. It appeared as if there were two things, one smaller than the other. They moved pretty fast, so we guessed they were light, like balloons. They would fly away, then come back, for about a half hour.

The tapes and camera ended up forgotten in a pile of junk in the basement.

I just dug out the tapes, which are disintegrating. Unfortunately, I can't get the audio to work, so the weird noise can't be heard. The old deck functions just well enough to watch a few inches at a time of the tape. After playing a few seconds, the heads have to be cleaned, and the tape has snapped in a few places. I'm transferring what survives to digital format, and posting it here for anyone who's interested in this sort of thing.  less

WOW!! Southampton ufos?? Thats where i`m from!! My own spectacular sighting happened in the New Forest(10mins from this sighting), Between Holmsley camp site and Burley, this is exactly what we saw only   more...we were directly under two of these objects, and they were extremely low!!. The other slight difference to this is the objects passed in a straight line until they just blinkered out. Blinkered out was more our opinion, we watched them for about 40seconds before they dissapeared!! So pleased this was captured on film. I wish we had been lucky enough to do the same!!  less

Ray Santilli and fellow producer Gary Shoefield announced that their film was only partially real (a "few frames", in their words), while the rest was a reconstruction of twenty-two rolls of film, averaging four minutes in length, which Santilli had viewed in 1992 but which had subsequently degraded from humidity and heat. They said that only a few frames of the original were still intact by the time they had raised enough money to purchase it.

Santilli and Shoefield stated that they had "restored" the damaged footage by filming a simulated autopsy on a fabricated alien, based upon what Santilli saw in 1992, and then adding in a few frames of the original film that had not degraded. They have not identified which parts are original footage.  less
