I had other plans for this birthday vid, as you know, but it was a beautiful early morning (hence, the bleary eyes) and everything changed when I suddenly realized I had the means to bring you to   more...my special perch in the world (not to mention the fact that there was work being done on the house and buzz saws don't go well with ballads).

Her name is Grandmother Cottonwood and for your birthday, I'd like you to come climb into the palm of her hand with me so you, too, can feel the warmth of her love.

Figures i see in the barks

I did some video of the Tree Of Shame at Deals Gap. The next day... Something sort of prophetic happened.

I put this video together for TheChildrensTable, and those of us not afraid to admit a fascination with the gifts that Mother Nature has given us. A year ago, we met our first Grey Tree Frog, Pudge,   more...when he clung to the window beside our front door. This spring, he was joined by Spout, who was found in the downspout of the eaves trough of our shed. A tree branch to sit on, dirt and moss to burrow in, clean, springwater to soak in with an occasional spray bottle shower, and a supply of crickets keeps them healthy and happy.  less

In 2008 I visited my Cousin Shelia and her boy Jimmy. They live in the Sierra Nevada Mountains east of Stockton, CA. We did some sightseeing to California Caverns and Big Tree State Park.
