This is a video I did back in October 2005. Pou Clar (clear spring, rough translation from Catalan) is surrounded by mountains and can be found some 4 to 5 kilometres from Ontinyent, a town of the Valencian   more...community in Spain. There are a series of natural underground springs that keep the water crystal clear and very cold. Although I did all the filming and editing of this video I was also helped by a very good Spanish friend of mine, Rafa Vidal. He took the photo that was use at the end of the video for the credits. **Translation Notes**
"haki tame no tsuru" (a crane in a rubbish heap) is like saying "a diamond in the rough". "gera gera hashi korogari warau" literally means "laughing because a chopstick as rolling". It means someone who laughs at anything. "ano hadaka no ousama raba no mimi da ne" refers to the king having "donkey ears" because he's so concerned with his image, he'll hear anything anyone says about him. It's apparently from a European folk tale.  less

In the decades after Hava Nagila first appeared, it became a world-wide fixture of Jewish life. Already in the 1920s and 1930s it was sung in Zionist circles in the United States and Europe. Soon the song was included in Jewish children's songbooks in Palestine, Europe, and North America. At the same time, cantors and Jewish folk singers began to issue commercial recordings of Hava Nagila. By the 1940s, the song had become a staple of Jewish weddings, bar mitzvahs, and youth groups, where it was sung and danced as an Israeli-style hora folk dance.  less

Rhumbah loves music, particularly female vocals, and her favorite song is Suo Gan, a Welsh Lulaby. She has enjoyed many of the musicians on LiveVideo, and I felt that a video with her response to singing   more...would be an appropriate way of showing appreciation. This features me singing it to her, following her as best I can with my webcam. I start with the English translation, followed by the Welsh original. For those who know Welsh, I apologize for any mispronunciations. I do not know the Welsh language.

If I'm not sitting when singing or playing music, Rhumbah wanders around, purring and rubbing on things. If I'm sitting, she curls up in my lap, purring like mad.

The purring you hear is a recording of Rhumbah purring that I superimposed over the vocals.
