The Kahuna lomilomi   more...were priests who practiced the healing arts with much reverence, love and spirituality. They believed that physical discomfort and disease were the results of suppressed emotions, mental disturbances or spiritual disharmony. The traditional lomilomi healing session began with a thorough investigation into the nature of the dysfunction, as well as prayer, fasting and several sessions in the steam hut. Once the malady was identified, the treatment would often begin with heated stones and herbal poultices. Then the Kahuna would massage and use particular lomilomi strokes necessary for that individual. One of the common similarities among lomilomi practitioners of old was the power and knowledge they had. That is, their ability to communicate deep to the bones of their patients via their touch through soft tissues, yet being noninvasive and connecting it all with spirit, says Maka'ala Yates, a Hawaiian medicine specialist.The lomilomi technique focused on finding congested areas in the body and dispersing them, by moving the palms, thumbs, knuckles and forearms in rhythmic, dance-like motions. Setting the intention for healing, the Kahuna would also utilize prayer (pule), breath (ha) and energy (mana). The practice of lomilomi was common within each Hawaiian community and contributed to a vibrant, healthy society.In the 1820's early missionaries to the Hawaiian Islands found the native healers to be accurate in their diagnosis and treatment of illness, and in mending broken bones. They considered the Hawaiians to be heathens, however, and in 1893, after years of political upheaval, the new government outlawed all spiritual traditions, including healing arts, the study of the Hawaiian language, and hula dancing. But the sacred traditions did not die; they were hidden.  less

5 seconds, 7 seconds, 5 seconds

~Just letting you know this is a tear jerker ~ for me anyway. My grandfather is very sick and far away from me. My mom, my grandpa, my sister, myself... we are scattered through the states.... so I wanted   more...to do something for my family in this time of sorrow... I have to say, spending a few days making this video for my grandpa allowed me to grieve, reminisce, and heal a little all at the same time. I have a new appreciation for Live Video now for this and for being able to express myself and to share with my family in the moment. Being able to give this gift to my grandpa, letting him know how much he is loved. There's been so much lost time, these photos are the only photos I have of us together, preserving the three visits I've had with him. I think what I am trying to say is that when you love someone, don't put off telling them so, because the days and years move so fast. I love you Grandpa.

So, it's a day later and I come to find out that my Grandfather passed away about the same time I was uploading this video. It's OK. He's at peace now. God Bless. April 19th, 2007  less

What is constipation?http://www.CaptainColon.com Constipation means different things to different people. For many people, it simply means infrequent stools. For others, however, constipation means hard   more...stools, difficulty passing stools (straining), or a sense of incomplete emptying after a bowel movement. The cause of each of these "types" of constipation probably is different, and the approach to each should be tailored to the specific type of constipation. Constipation can also alternate with diarrhea. This pattern is more commonly considered as part of the irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). At the extreme end of the constipation spectrum is fecal impaction, a condition in which stool hardens in the rectum and prevents the passage of any stool.The number of bowel movements generally decreases with age. Ninety-five percent of adults have bowel movements between three and 21 times per week, and this would be considered normal. The most common pattern is one bowel movement a day, but this pattern is seen in less than 50% of people. Moreover, most people are irregular and do not have bowel movements every day or the same number of bowel movements each day. Medically speaking, constipation usually is defined as fewer than three bowel movements per week (this is crazy). Severe constipation is defined as less than one bowel movement per week ( a road to disease). There is no medical reason to have a bowel movement every day ( that is why medicine is very flawed). Going without a bowel movement for two or three days does not cause physical discomfort, only mental distress for some people. Contrary to popular belief, there is no evidence that "toxins" accumulate when bowel movements are infrequent or that constipation leads to cancer ( give me a break, if you do not eliminate waste where else can the toxins go?).It is important to distinguish acute (recent onset) constipation from chronic (long duration) constipation. Acute constipation requires urgent assessment because a serious medical illness may be the underlying cause (e.g., tumors of the colon). Constipation also requires an immediate assessment if it is accompanied by worrisome symptoms such as rectal bleeding, abdominal pain and cramps, nausea and vomiting, and involuntary weight loss.
