A man was tased and arrested on a Utah highway after being stopped by an officer and refusing to sign a speeding ticket because he did not understand what offence he had committed or why he had been pulled over.

The encounter, captured on the police car camera on September 14th and released this week, is the latest in a long string of incidents involving the unacceptable use of Tasers by officers on citizens whom the evidence reveals are in no way threatening, acting unlawfully or resisting co-operation.

The video shows the Utah Highway Patrolman pull over Jared Massey and his pregnant wife who also had their baby with them in the car and ask for Mr Massey's license.

Mr Massey tells the officer he does not understand why he has been stopped or what he is being charged with, at which point the officer orders Massey to get out of the car. The officer then puts down his clipboard and immediately takes out his Taser and points it at Mr Massey without any provocation whatsoever, yelling "Turn around and put your hands behind your back" as Massey attempts to point out the speed limit sign and engage the officer in conversation.  less

"Volcano Girls" is a single by the American alternative rock band Veruca Salt, released in 1997 on their album Eight Arms to Hold You. It was written by Nina Gordon who also sang lead vocals,   more...with Louise Post performing backup vocals. This song was used at the beginning of the dark comedy movie Jawbreaker released in 1999. he song lyrically references Veruca Salt's previous hit "Seether", from their 1994 American Thighs album. In Volcano Girls the identity of the Seether is clearly revealed; "The Seether's Louise", as in Louise Post of the band. This itself is a reference to the Beatles song "Glass Onion". People come from miles around, to this canal in the southern part of Salt Lake City, Utah, in order to feed the birds and the small goats. It's fun watchin' the faces of the OHHHHH so happy kids as they   more...feed the critters, and watchin' the frenzy of the birds pouncing on the food :) . . . It's not often you'll see ducks, geese & seagulls hangin' out together! This part of the canal has an old rural property with the goats on it, and the property is now TOTALLY surrounded by typical "surburban sprawl".
