Text from Wikipedia: The Plastibell Circumcision Device is a clear plastic ring with handle designed for male neonatal circumcision that has a deep groove running circumferentially. The adhesions between   more...glans and foreskin are divided with a probe. Then the foreskin is cut longitudinally to allow it to be retracted and the glans (the head of penis) to be exposed.

The Plastibell comes in 6 sizes. The appropriate one is chosen and applied to the head. The ring is then covered over by the foreskin. A ligature is tied firmly around the foreskin, crushing the skin against the groove in the Plastibell. Then the excess skin protruding beyond the ring is trimmed off. Finally, the handle is broken off at the end of the procedure.

The entire procedure takes five to ten minutes, depending on the experience and skill of the surgeon. The ring falls off in 3 to 7 days leaving a circumferential wound that will heal over the following week. Typically, the glans will appear red or yellow until it has cornified.

At least 50% of American non-therapeutic infant circumcisions since 1980 have been performed with a Plastibell.  less

The Department of Labor tracks   more...wages and salaries for a very large number of occupations - this includes medical coding salary and wage information. We have found that the latest published Dept. of Labor statistics suggest that the average medical coder earns close to $32,000 each year. The important thing to remember here is the term "average". There's obviously far more to this story.

Here is a 2007 medical coding salary survey taken by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). It breaks it down so you can get a better idea about the actual income of medical coders:

Annual Salary by Title:

Medical Coding Specialist: $30,000 - $35,000

Medical Coding Professional: $30,000 - $35,000

Medical Coding Manager: $40,000 - $45,000

Medical Billing Manager: $35,000 - $40,000

Medical Coding Audit Specialist: $40,000 - $45,000

Medical Coding Compliance Manager: $55,000 - $60,000

Medical Records Supervisor: $40,000 - $45,000

Administrator: $85,000 +

Here are a few things you need to be aware of in evaluating medical coding wage information.

1. Certified Medical Coders are commonly paid 17% more than non-certified coders, according the American Academy of Professional Coders wage survey.

2. There is a extremely firm career path for professional medical coders. Income grows with responsibility and greater certification. A complete 8% of medical coders having a specialty credential made greater than $85,000 per year.

3. Longevity and expertise in the medical coding occupation pays off, according to the 2007 AAPC Medical Coding Salary Survey. Those with basic credentials and one year or less of experience earn an average of $25,000 - $30,000 annually. Those with 18 or more years of experience make an average of 70% to 80% more: $45,000 - $50,000 each year.  less
