Judith Leiber was born and raised in Budapest, Hungary, where she studied the mastery of handbag making during the second world war. At the finish of the war, Judith   more...was introduced to and married Gerson Leiber, an American GI living in Budapest. In 1947 the newlyweds moved to the United States and after years of working for various New York purse manufacturing businesses, Mrs. Leiber the Judith Leiber Company in 1963.

Since then, the corporation has made world-renowned purses, handbags, evening bags and accessories. The handbags are part of the permanent collections of museums around the world. Whilst Mrs. Leiber retired in 1998, her material impact on handbag design keeps going. Plenty of the prototype designs are distributed to this day. "The Artful Handbag", a coffee table book that accounts the vivid epic of the Company can be purchased now.

Ms Leibers handbags are carried by well known celebrities, including Hilary Swank, Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Simpson, Nicole Ritchie, Natalie Portman, Debra Messing, Oprah Winfrey, Teri Hatcher, Cate Blanchett, and Sarah Jessica Parker just to name a few.
