La Compañía "Juan Fanning" es una unidad histórica de la Marina de Guerra del Perú. Combatió en la batalla de Miraflores, el 15 de enero de 1881, al mando del capitán   more...de fragata AP Juan Fanning, defendiendo la ciudad capital del Perú del invasor chileno durante la guerra del Pacífico de 1879 a 1883.

En la actualidad, esta unidad de infantería de marina, es la encargada de custodiar Palacio de Gobierno del Perú, en forma alternada con otras unidades históricas de las Fuerzas Armadas del Perú. Además, hace el cambio de guardia presidencial en el patio de honor de Palacio de Gobierno en la plaza mayor de Lima.

En la película, haciendo alegorías en la plaza Gran Almirante del Perú Miguel Grau Seminario, en el Callao, con motivo del 128ª Aniversario del combate naval de Angamos del 8 de octubre de 1879, en donde se inmoló el Gran Almirante y el BAP "Huáscar" fue capturado por toda la escuadra chilena cuando ya tenía 1,20 metros de agua en sus fondos.

Este sólo buque de la Marina de Guerra del Perú, tuvo en jaque a toda la escuadra chilena durante 6 meses y tres días (desde el 5 de abril hasta el 8 de octubre de 1879), provocó pánico en las costas chilenas, obligó a renunciar al contralmirante chileno Juan Williams Rebvolledo y provocó una crísis en el gobierno de Santiago de Chile.  less

It was difficult to find "period" pics for this   more...one, so I must thank Tj for coming to my rescue and providing some of them. That's what made this truly a "team" effort!
