I want to add (as a general note, based on past experiences) that I don't mind answering questions but I prefer that when people are asking questions, they're also telling about themselves as well, so that it's reciprocal, between people rather than a one-way zoo exhibit. ;-) And, in that vein, keep in mind that my experiences here aren't exactly standard, even though they're also not exactly unheard of either.  less

I couldn't wait to open this first of the glaze firings in my new kiln. Sorry for the restart in numbering, but I want to count for this kiln, not for me personally.

Not the most fun kiln opening I ever had. My idea of making maks for everyone has been SUNK. Hopefully, I can salvage one for Matt, who was so kind to make the drawing for me!

Why so many video suggestions? Does it defeat the purpose?

This video was originally made in August 2006 and uploaded to YT. It is no longer there, but I thought I would upload it here so folks can get a little laugh.

I did get a few comments about milk not being   more...good for cats. This is true for many cats, they will get problems with their digestion, but Newsie has no problems at all. She gets low-fat milk and only a teeny bit, but it is her biggest treat and I use it to bribe her to go outside more (go outside for a while, then you will get milk - and she goes!) and to stop peeing in our shoes! Hehe! When she does pee somewhere (she's not ill, she's p'ed off - I am sure), she doesn't get her daily milk treat, even though she asks and asks for it. She is a very intelligent cat, and she gets the message.

Since Newsie only understands Norwegian, I had to resort to subtitling the conversation :-)  less

Ken (30andout) made a video reply to Lem that I just didn't agree with. So here is my version of what Lem's beautiful music made me imagine.

Hubby and I have worked out this method through a bit of trial and error. It is a very space-saving way to do it, and I don't end up with half a ton of clay that needs to be kneeded/wedged at the same   more...time.  less

Finally, I have fired the vases and other stuff. Sadly, that big ball didn't fit into the kiln with the vases. But some cool stuff anyway.
