I wanted to share with you this great system that is at a local department store in San Diego, that carries customer shopping carts from one floor to another. I'd never, ever seen that before. This   more...shopping cart escalator system obviously isn't new to the customers of THIS store, but it was sure new to ME! LOL, so YEP, another video project for my LiveVideo and YouTube channels!!

Rising out of the chaparral-covered Gabilan Mountains, east of central California's Salinas Valley, are the spectacular   more...remains of an ancient volcano. Massive monoliths, spires, sheer-walled canyons and talus passages define millions of years of erosion, faulting and tectonic plate movement.

Rhyolitic breccia is the rock that the High Peaks and other rock formations at Pinnacles are made of. Rhyolite breccia is composed of lava sand, ash, and angular chunks of rock that were explosively ejected from the Pinnacles Volcano.

The park, in Central California, is a release site for the endangered California condor, and the birds can sometimes be seen from hiking trails throughout the park.

The hiking path shown on this video ascends around 1,500 feet and is about a 7 mile “loop” that starts from the east side of the park, goes thru’ the Balconies Caves (shown on my last video) and then climbs over the summit and then back down . . . and OH! you REALLY don’t wanna attempt this trail at the height of the summer heat, unless you’re a masochist, or training for running ultramarathons like I used to do all the time . . . which can ALSO be grouped under the category of “masochist”! LOL

The song is the great Jimi Hendrix reggae version of “Stairway to Heaven”. I’ve never thought of reggae as bein’ a “mellow” type of music, but THIS song sure is!  less

Here’s a video using photos I’ve taken during trips around the Southwest. Mother Nature does some AMAZING “architecture”!!! One of the more incredible experiences I had, was in the “Valley of the Gods”   more...near Monument Valley. Valley of the Gods is an almost UNKNOWN area of land, where you can camp in the desert, and be TOTALLY by yourself. It’s also one of the VERY few places where you can experience total SILENCE. That’s almost impossible to experience in today’s world. So on my most recent trip there, there was a time period of 20 hours where I didn’t hear a SOUND in the vastness of this deserted desert . . . not a bird, not a car, nor jet, or bug flying around. . . NUTHIN’ . . . it’s one of the most surreal experiences you can have in Mother Nature, where you can just sit and look out at the vastness of the desert mountains surrounding you, and have NO noise . . . your ears eventually get so “fine tuned” that they literally start hearing the blood flow around your ears. Anyway, I digress LOL, so yeah, the last two photos in this video were taken at that area of the desert at my campsite, nearing sunset. It's as if you're the only person in the world, having total freedom, peace and tranquility, as you watch the sun setting on these incredible natural "sculptures".

The cliff dwellings in the photos were abandoned around 1250 A.D. as a drought forced the Native Americans to move to lands with better water access. The average life expectancy during those times was 35 years for males and only 25 years for females (due to the extra problems associated with childbirth complications). It’s difficult to imagine a time where those were the average lifespans! We take for granted that we will probably live at least into our 70s.

The song is “Bonny Swans” by Loreena McKennitt. She’s a Canadian singer, of Irish/Scottish descent . . . there’s somethin’ about the “haunting antiquity” sound of Celtic music that just seems to go really well with photos of rugged high desert lands, and this song is an interesting blend of “rock” and “Celtic” sounds . . .  less

I took the camcorder out again to record more of the bike paths in the area, so these paths go along Mission Bay. I've got five bikes in my home in San Diego, and another bike at a friend's house in   more...England, and this is my favorite bike (the one shown in the first two photos). It's a Trek triathlon/time trial type bike, and the most aerodynamic bike I've ever owned. It's soooo effortless to ride :) :) The video speed is sped up as well, 'cause I LOVE seein' things in fast motion LOL. Part 1 in this two part San Diego bike path series was my video "Don't Worry . . Be Happy".

The San Diego Crew Classic Rowing Competition came to town this weekend. There's always SOMETHIN' goin' on here! Teams competed from such nationally known universities as USC, UCLA, Notre Dame, etc.   more... All of the vid footage of the racing were clips I took at different points along the race course with my 64 power camcorder optical zoom (I HAD considered "cheating" and just video recording the "jumbrotron" screen they set up at the event (which woulda been MUCH simpler LOL), but I only used that screen in the one clip with the smart guy who was watchin' the screen AND his binoculars! :) )

People come from miles around, to this canal in the southern part of Salt Lake City, Utah, in order to feed the birds and the small goats. It's fun watchin' the faces of the OHHHHH so happy kids as they   more...feed the critters, and watchin' the frenzy of the birds pouncing on the food :) . . . It's not often you'll see ducks, geese & seagulls hangin' out together! This part of the canal has an old rural property with the goats on it, and the property is now TOTALLY surrounded by typical "surburban sprawl".

I took my camcorder along on one of my typical bicycle rides today, just to see how the ride would look when sped up . . . yep, that's the sole purpose of why I made the vid :) . . . I hope the frenetic   more...nature of the resulting video, doesn't make anybody get a headache or make his/her eyes start twitching!

The bike paths I was riding on are in the Pacific Beach and Mission Beach areas of San Diego, California. The "real time" speed I was riding was usually around 18mph, so the sped up version is around 72mph LOL, and the video footage here covers about a 5 mile portion of some of the great bike paths in the area . . .

The song is "Don't Worry Be Happy" by Bobby McFerrin. This song was one of THE biggest hits of 1988 . . . I got to thinkin' 'bout it tho' and realized that you'd have to be around 25 years old NOW!!!, to even REMEMBER hearing that song when it first came out!!!! . . . GEEZ, I'm gettin' old!!!! LOL  less

I was thumbing through some of my family's photo albums that have been passed down through the generations, so here are some of the photos . . . it was a very rough life during these times, with the Great   more...Depression, the Dust Bowl, & two world wars, but these times also had many joys, & love of families & friends . . .

I thought the monument shown in two of my photos within the video was amazing, because of the intense emotion that's conveyed via the grieving woman statue that is a part of that monument . . . you get the feeling that the deceased was sorely missed by somebody who loved him deeply . . .

The song is Mary Chapin Carpenter's "This Shirt" . . . I thought it was the perfect "life's journeys" song to go with the video, because we all have particular backpacks, or shirts, or jackets that remind of us of particular people or places we've known during our lives . . .  less

Here's another episode in what will apparently be becoming my DUCK series LOL . . . For those who didn't see my first vid in this series, entitled "Dunking Duck", here's the synopsis to THIS   more...point in time . . . a few days ago, 3 male duck suitors and 1 female duck all landed at the lagoon outside my home. It "quacked" me up watchin' the 3 males fight over the female . . . finally a couple of days ago, the most wimpy duck (LOSER!! LOL) gave up and flew away, so now it's down to 2 males fightin' over the female's attention . . . the female duck, bein' of LESS than stellar virtue, isn't faithful to EITHER male, so she just swims around with whatever duck is the most macho and testosterone enhanced at any particular instant LOL, so in this vid she's "double dunking" with the current "Alpha Duck", then by the end of this short video she's swimmin' off with the OTHER newly crowned "Alpha Duck"!!! . . . it'll be fun to see if the ducks hang around long enuf to hatch little ducklings!, in which case they'll be more episodes in this series!! :) :)

I heard this great version of "Missing You" on a music video, done as a duet by John Waite and Alison Krauss, so I then downloaded the song off of iTunes, so here it is, along with a few from   more...the many thousands of photos I've taken in San Francisco over the years. When walkin' around S.F., it's interesting how the photographic models in large billboards seem to be watching the world go by below them, so yeah, there are some photos of those interesting billboards too . . .

The poem at the end of the video is one I saw on a plaque while walkin' around S.F. one time . . . the words seemed to fit the song theme, so I included a photo of the plaque too :)

I've been to Yosemite over fifty times now; my most favorite place on earth . . . I'm still in total awe of Yosemite's beauty . . . here are photos I've taken over the years at Yosemite in various seasons,   more...including times with Yosemite Falls at full strength, and times when the falls have NO water at all. It's amazing walking around the remote, hard to reach base of the Yosemite Upper Falls at the dry times, exploring the cave areas created by the pounding water, and seeing the granite there that has been intensely polished over thousands of years by the millions of tons of water that typically pound down on that area . . . also shown in the photos are the cables used by high country hikers to ascend to the top of the 8,837 foot high Half Dome mountain, and there's also a photo of adrenaline junkie/idiot me standing at the top of Half Dome, at the edge of the 4,871 foot dropoff to the Valley floor below.

I just wanted to share a few of the many hundreds of photos of "Mother Nature's Work" that I've taken while wandering around the Southwest on my motorcycles over the years . . . the photos show   more...such places as Monument Valley, Grand Canyon, Canyonlands National Park, Bryce Canyon, and Death Valley National Park.

The music I chose for this video is the song "Invisible Friend", by a really talented Norwegian singer Christine Guldbrandsen, that almost nobody has heard of in the USA (we miss out on some BEAUTIFUL music over here!!; thankfully I’ve got great friends who can get it for me (you know who you are! LOL)) . . . maybe I’m kinda prejudiced because I’m half Norwegian, but I think a lot of Nordic and other Northern European music has a unique feel of antiquity, grandeur, vitality, and a hard-to-describe “haunted” quality to it, that evokes images of vast fjords, ancient castles, vistas that “go on forever”, etc., so to me at least, this type of music seems to go really well with these photos of “Mother Nature’s creations”, that were carved out long, long, long, long before mankind ever stepped foot on this continent . . .  less
