Originally believed to be inspired by the upcoming Olympic Games, this Air Jordan 7 is now known to be inspired by the great Spanish artist Joan Miró and his famous sculpture   more...called “Woman and Bird”. Miró died shortly before Michael Jordan helped team USA take gold in the ‘84 Olympics, in addition Michael Jordan originally wore the Air Jordan 7’s in the ‘92 Games when USA took gold, this time in Miró’s hometown of Barcelona, Spain. Thus the reasoning for the Air Jordan VII as the basis for the tribute. The shoe greatly resembles the “Woman and Bird” sculpture with its multi-colored designs covering the uppers and with its matching laces. Featured on the back of the shoe is Jordan’s Olympic number 9. This shoe will be available at the Opium store in Barcelona on July 3rd.  less

The American launched an explosive foul-mouthed tirade, claiming actor Russell Crowe was "a f***ing shit" when asked about interviewing celebrities on the red carpet as shocked presenters Jackie Brambles, Coleen Nolan, Jane McDonald and Carol McGiffin looked on.

Rivers, believing the show to be pre-recorded, simply told producers to "bleep that out" afterwards to gasps from the studio audience.

Instead, show bosses went to an ad break and hauled the star off set.  less

A typical ballad of love and murder from Child's collection, this goes back to at least the early 17th Century and has survived in many forms. The main character is known variously as Musgrave, Mossgrey,   more...Matty Groves, Matthew Groves, Little Sir Grove and Marshall Groves among others. The husband can be Lord Barnard, Barnet, Barnabas, Arnold, Arlan, Allen, Daniel and so on. In the US, a popular shortened version of the song developed, known as "Shady Grove".

I first heard this song sung by Joan Baez (1962). Other notable recordings are by John Jacob Nile (1956), Doc Watson (1966), Fairport Convention (1969), Martin Carthy (1969), Christy Moore (1976), and Planxty (1992).

This is one of the best-known of all the ballads collected by Francis James Child. There are hundreds of variations and many different tunes. The story is straightforward: The heroine rejects her lover's   more...advances. He dies of a broken heart. She realises she made a mistake and dies as well. They are buried side by side, a rose grows from his heart and a briar from hers, and they tie themselves into a lover's knot - so love has triumphed after death.

The first known reference to the song occurs in the diary of Samuel Pepys, on January 2, 1666, when he reports hearing it sung by an actress he liked by the name of Mrs. Knipp, though no printed versions have been found until the following century.

I first heard this sung by Burl Ives on his 1953 10 inch Decca Album, "Folksongs about the Fair Sex". He learned this song as a young child, and sang it at his first performance - at a reunion of old soldiers in Hunt City.

I loved Burl Ives' rendition of this song from an early age, so much so that, as a teenager, I made a home movie with my younger brothers and sisters in which we acted out the story, with Burl Ives' song as the sound track. The 8mm film was unfortunately destroyed in a fire some years later.

The song has been recorded by many performers including Joan Baez, The Everly Brothers, Crystal Gayle, Simon and Garfunkel and Emmy Rossum (in the movie, "Songcatcher"),

I have uploaded an a capella version of the song previously, but this rendition is much closer to the Burl Ives version I learned as a child.

Yorihime's clan made a pact with an Oni - kind of a lesser demon - some time ago. In fact, it was her Great-Grandfather that made the pact. Basically, he wanted to learn this secret power that the Oni knew, but the Oni wouldn't tell him how to do it without a fair trade. So, Yorihime's great-grand-dad put any female successors to his name up for Onis to use as physical embodiments in the real world. It was no skin off his nose, because he had three sons already and wasn't planning on anymore kids; so, he wouldn't have to tell anyone of this trade. (Y'see, in my mind, Onis are on a different plane of existence and can't really survive in the "reality", because they're so use to their own universe.)

So, the trade went off without a hitch. Well, her grandfather (one of the three sons) ended up having a daughter who basically shared a body with the Oni spirit. It wasn't really possession, because both could communicate. Think of it like a split personality. ^^ Well, it was a dark secret of Yorihime's family that she didn't know until, when Yorihime was twelve, her mother died. Of course, she kind of learned by her body having to deal with two souls instead of one, which I imagine is very painful. So...yeah. o3o That's about all I got for Yorihime and her demon split personality. XD

By the way, Onis aren't very strong, and mostly possess bad luck powers. o3o So, it's not like Naruto and Gaara demons.  less

Bob Dylan released his first self-titled album "Bob Dylan" in 1962. In his first album is the song "Pretty Peggy-O," a variation of the Scottish folk song "The Bonnie Lass o'   more...Fyvie."

Bob Dylan's first album sold around 5,000 copies the first year, just breaking even. Some in Columbia Records wanted to drop Bob Dylan, but due to support from the likes of Johnny Cash he stayed.

Bob Dylan rarely performed songs from his first album and as such I was unable to find a live version of the song on video. So I put a together a collection of photographs and lyrics.

Due to the faith of those who knew him in his early days, Bob Dylan has become a legend and will always be remembered in history as an important figure in music whose influence spans five decades.  less
