I saw the musical "Spring Awakening" a few weeks ago while my parents and sister were here for the holidays. The entire show was powerful but this song in particular stood out to me and, although   more...I couldn’t remember the melody, I found the chorus lyric tumbling around inside my head over the past several weeks. I finally bought the soundtrack and as soon I head the song again I was obsessed.

I spent two days trying to piece together the orchestration. I had to do it by ear since there was no published music – and I don’t think I got it exactly – but it was a good exercise and, more importantly, gave me a greater appreciation of Duncan Sheik’s fantastic composition and Steven Sate's superb lyric writing.

This version takes bits and pieces from two separate tracks in the musical.

I filmed this in my bedroom with my MacBook's iSight camera.

I think I did all of this for someone, but I’m kind of afraid to say who.  less
