In honour of our First Nations peoples, the real founders of our Land. Go back in history, walk in their footsteps, and remember what was once their majesty, and learn from their ancient wisdom.

*READ BEFORE WATCHING*
Not the usual music I use, but I forgot about this song for a long time and a friend of mine reminded me about the band and what good videos their songs make. And I re-found this   more...one and came up with an epiphany. Be patient at the beginning of the song, it is a story done in both Cherokee and English (lyrics/translation at the bottom). But the pay off is right after the horse stampede...just wow. This is an awesome song. The sound effects at the beginning are actually ON the song, I didn't add them and did my best to match them up.

This was a total bitch to make. Lip synching, matching the sound effects in the song, matching the lyrics/beats in the song, those god damn battle cries, matching the mood/emotion of the lyrics, my back hurts from slouching in this chair too long....damn. 3 days of working on this. There were times I regretted coming up with this idea.

Movies included: Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, Pocohontas, Brother Bear, and a little bit of Balto. However, the song is about none of these movies. Usually I make videos about a movie, this time, I made one about a song.

This is the story of so-called "Indian residential Schools" in British Columbia, as told by Kevin Annett. While he lost his job, his family and his livelihood trying to bring these crimes to   more...the open, the victims of these horrendous crimes lost much much more. 50,000 children lost their lives. Survivors witnessed murders and tell stories of torture, rape, cruel medical experiments, forced abortions and sterilizations. Some schools were still forcibly interring Indian children as late as 1970. The Canadian government and the churches involved have virtually gotten away with these crimes.  less

The Grand Entry of Dancers (usually led by Veterans or honoring veterans of wars) and demonstration of two categories of Powwow dancers - Men's Traditional (sometimes called Men's Northern Traditional)   more...and Women's Fancy Shawl Dance. There are usually divisions as well for boys and girls, as well. Sometimes even for tots, as well. Children take their dancing VERY seriously and are very proud to have participated in comeptitions at Powwows. Each category has a specific costume style and you can easily figure out who dances what type from their costume.  less
