Today three groups protested together in Reykjavik.
Home alliance ,protesting how the banking crisis is hurting the publics home - Loans increasing and all.
Students in university- the student loans are   more...going down - because of the crisis.
And A group protesting that the goverment is going to pay the Icesave loans in europe - wich will probably mean - more taxes on the public in ICeland

But the protest was very peaceful - and they put tents in front of the parliement building - ( they had permission frome Reykjavik city )
And protesters shared coffie with the poloce and it was all very peaceful and friendly.  less

the 1st december 2008 - Iceland celebrated it 90th annivercary of Self Rule from Denmark.
We got independence in 1944.
People went to Arnarholl ,the hill between the govermnet house and the Central bank.
  more...There protest speaches where held ,and still demanding the ressignation of the goverment ,and the Central Bank managers.
After the protest was over ,people went to the central bank ,and tried to get in .
To do what ,i dont know.
Police tried to stop the protesters.
Protesters got into the lobby,but there big glass doors where shut,and police where in front of the door.
But later the Police left,and the people got into the inner lobby,and another glass door -and behind that door,was riot police ready.
Protesters tried to get the Police to help them .
The central bank was under siege for about one and a half hours.
Protesters used eggs and paint at the building.
Police warned the protesters ,that they would use pepperspray.
But in the end ,the Police informed the protesters ,that mr: David Oddsson ,the ceo of the central bank,was not in the building.
So the protesters told the police ,they would go out peacefully,if they would go out first.
And leave three officers to confirm that the protesters had left the building.

In March and April 1990, more than 7,000Albanian school children needed medical treatment with signs of spasms in the stomach and limbs, vertigo, reddening of ears, vomiting, shivering, etc. The Serbian   more...police prevented the children from entering hospitals and persecuted Albanian doctors who helped them. Foreign experts (e.g. Bernard Benedetti of Medicins du Monde), basing themselves on blood analysis, established that the children had been poisoned by nerve gases. These poisoning happened after the Serbian authorities had decided that Serb children should attend school in the morning and Albanian children in the afternoon.
The number of the cases were more than 7,000 ethnic Albanian teenagers that were admitted to hospitals in Kosovo complaining of a mysterious illness.

The Serbian occupation in 1990s spring did the massive poisoning of Albanian youth of Kosovo.
This dirty and unseen act of Serbian Secret Security, is still internationally unpunished.
In the symposium organized in Zagreb, in 9th of June.1990, especially for this event for the first time has been spoken with the force of argument. In prof.Franjo Plavsic project, has been public the toxic substance DIMETIL PHOSPHODITIONAT.
This substance h as been found in test tube with the urine sample of poisoned Albanians.
The symposium Kosovo Essay of Medical Responsibility unmasked the acts of fascist Serbian power.

Today , a few thousand people protested downtown in Reykjavik ,Iceland.
People nearly surrounded the Parliement bulding.
Mototcycles where the in force - and when they where asked to leave the are,the showed   more...the power of the motorbikes ,and filled the area with smoke.
Aggresive protesters ,put a flag on the building ,marked - BONUS - that is the flag of cheap food stores in ICeland owned by Jon Asgeir Johannesson ,the owner of the other media in Iceland, Channel 2 ( www.stod2.is )
People are getting very angry at the goverment and the Icelandic central bank .
Eggs and tomatos where where used to hit the paeliement building.
According to local news ,no arrests where made.  less

Due to the financial crisis here in Iceland, and the local currency going way down, a drum festival was held today in Reykjavik.
People who like drums ,had a minor festival today at 17:00 gmt.

And people   more...who came where told to drum with the group.
This was being down - because ,many are having a bad day - loans going up - and trouble in the financial sector.

And England has used UK terror laws against Icelandic banks in England - ,because the president of the Iceland central bank,said in a tv interview ,that the Icelandic banks would not pay their debts in England.  less

THat the bank managers are not educated in financial matters.

Some species of large whales are endangered as a result of commercial whaling from the eleventh century to the twentieth. For centuries large whales have been hunted for oil, meat, baleen and ambergris   more...(a perfume ingredient from the intestine of sperm whales). By the middle of the 20th century, whaling left many populations severely depleted.

Cetaceans are the mammals most fully adapted to aquatic life. Their body is fusiform (spindle-shaped). The forelimbs are modified into flippers. The tiny hindlimbs are vestigial; they do not attach to the backbone and are hidden within the body. The tail has horizontal flukes. Cetaceans are nearly hairless, and are insulated by a thick layer of blubber. As a group, they are noted for their high intelligence.

The order Cetacea contains ninety species, all marine except for four species of freshwater dolphins. The order is divided into two suborders, Mysticeti (baleen whales) and Odontoceti (toothed whales, which includes dolphins and porpoises). The species range in size from the Commerson's Dolphin and Tucuxi to the Blue Whale, the world's largest ever animal.

The International Whaling Commission introduced a six year moratorium on all commercial whaling in 1986, which has been extended to the present day. For various reasons some exceptions to this moratorium exist; current whaling nations are Norway, Iceland and Japan and the aboriginal communities of Siberia, Alaska and northern Canada.
Several species of small whales are caught as bycatch in fisheries for other species. In the tuna fishery in the Eastern Tropical Pacific thousands of dolphins were drowned in purse-seine nets, until measures to prevent this were introduced. Fishing gear and deployment modifications, and eco-labelling (dolphin-safe or dolphin-friendly brands of canned tuna), have contributed to a reduction in the mortality of dolphins by tuna fishing vessels in recent years. In many countries, small whales are still hunted for food, oil, meat or bait.

Whaling in Norway is a centuries long tradition in Northern Norway. Only Minke whaling is permitted, from a population of 107,000 animals in the North East Atlantic and is argued by proponents and government officials to be sustainable. Still it has been frequently criticized by foreigners and animal rights groups as Norway, among Iceland and Japan, is one of few countries that still allow whaling.

Norway registered an objection to the International Whaling Commission (IWC) commercial whaling moratorium, and is thus not bound by it. In 1993, Norway resumed a commercial catch, following a period of five years where a small catch was made under scientific permit. Norwegian Minke whale catches have fluctuated between 218 animals in 1995 and 646 in 2003.

Prior to the moratorium, Norway caught around 2,000 Minke whales per year. The North Atlantic hunt is divided into five areas and usually lasts from early May to late August. Norway has exported a limited amount of whale meat to the Faroes and Iceland. It has been attempting to export to Japan for several years, though this has been hampered by concerns in the Japanese domestic market about the effects of pollution in the blubber of the North Atlantic Minke whale.

In May 2004, the Norwegian Parliament passed a resolution to considerably increase the number of Minkes hunted each year. The Ministry of Fisheries also initiated a satellite tracking programme of various whale species to monitor migration patterns and diving behaviour. The tagging research program has been under way since 1999.

Since 2006, when the Norwegian whaling quota was increased by 30%, Norwegian whalers have been allowed to hunt a quota of 1,052 Minke whales a year. Since the 1993 hunt resumption the Norwegian quota has rarely been fully met  less
