This one took a while I had the idea maybe two weeks ago and started work on the amv exactly one week ago and here it is, after 7 lost count of how many hours over 25.  less

Is it original? No, not really. Do I care? No, not really. :P

My first compilation AMV, using Wolf's Rain, Cowboy Bebop, and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG (in that order). The Cowboy   more...Bebop clips are by far the worst quality of all three, but seeing as I got them off limewire, they're still pretty decent.

I tried to take my time with this as much as possible, because I have a tendency to rush projects in order to get them done as quickly as possible. However the amount of time you spend on a video reflects its overall quality, so I tried to take it slow.

What links these three shows together:
- Keiko Nobumoto, the author of Cowboy Bebop, also wrote Wolf's Rain
- Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, the voice actress who plays Lady Jaguara in the English Version of Wolf's Rain, also plays Motoko Kusanagi in the English Version of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex

The third ZERO TOLERANCE STUDIOS AMV, done by myself and SpicAlmighty. I was having some technical difficulties with the video for the past day or so -- one of the effects I used decided not to work after   more...I compressed the finished movie file -- and I tried about six times to get it to work before I gave up and took the effect out. But then the video's synch got thrown off just enough to notice, so I decided to just go with the original version despite the slight messiness in my first part (you'll notice the flash that seems to last longer than it should). Other than that I think it turned out all right.

Both of the anime we chose to use (GITS: SAC 2nd GIG and Elfen Lied) have stories of two people meeting as children and being inexplicably bound to one another even into adulthood. It really clicked in that sense before I even saw the connection (because I haven't seen Elfen Lied), not to mention how well the song goes with the two relationships we focus on in this AMV.

So...enjoy. ^^

Once upon a time on planet earth, on August 6, 1945 at 8:15 AM, the first atomic bomb was dropped on a civilian population in Hiroshima, Japan, killing   more...80,000 people instantly, at least 60,000 since then, thus marking the beginning of the Nuclear Arms Race.

Sixty-two years later, on August 6, 2007 at 8:15 AM, more than 40 photographers, in more than 25 countries will be taking a single photograph.

ONCE UPON A TIME ON PLANET EARTH is the brainchild of ex-pat Ron Modro; an American who lives in France, Modro is a journalist/photographer. His belief that a single human being can make a difference, gives life to this innovative project.

"I wanted to find a venue to exploit the Internet as a force of global change for peace and understanding." Modro says. "How could we use the blogosphere to change and help re-shape public opinion and governmental policy? How can the Internet influence the biggest issues of our time? A single moment in life is at the core of this global photographic endeavor."

After spending 15 years in LA working in the Film industry, Modro worked for six years in Human Rights Education as the Senior Manager of the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles.

In 2004, the museum was given "United Nations Global Tolerance Award," as well as a commendation by the City of Los Angeles for their outstanding work in the field of Tolerance Education.

In 2004, Modro published THE LITTLE BOOK OF A MAN and has received top writing awards from the International Society of Poets in 2002, 2003, 2004 and, in 2005 was honored with EDITOR'S CHOICE AWARD and POET OF MERIT AWARDS.

I sometimes feel awkward, not to have the feelings I and other people expect me to have. I probably wouldn't express them, even if I had them, but they would be a stronger moral compass and a guide that   more...I might lose soon.

Having thoughts and not expressing them is, to me, a way of objecting. But if there is no thought. If there are no feelings, how can we tell, whether we are on the right path?

Media speculation since the horrific terrorist attacks on America has pointed the finger at Muslims and the Arab world, and that has meant ordinary citizens   more...of the US and other Western countries becoming easy prey for anti-faith hooligans. Shame. Sadly, the latest horror to hit the US looks to have been caused by people of Middle Eastern origin, bearing Muslim names. Again, shame. This fuels more hatred for a religion and a people who have nothing to do with these events. This is why I want to explain some basic facts about this noble way we call Islam, before, God forbid, another disaster occurs - next time probably aimed at Muslims.

I came to Islam in my late 20s, during my searching period as a wandering pop star. I found a religion that blended scientific reason with spiritual reality in a unifying faith far removed from the headlines of violence, destruction and terrorism. One of the first interesting things I learned in the Koran was that the name of the faith comes from the word salam - peace. Far from the kind of Turko-Arab-centric message I expected, the Koran presented a belief in the universal existence of God, one God for all. It does not discriminate against peoples; it says we may be different colors and from different tribes, but we are all human and "the best of people are the most God- conscious".

Today, as a Muslim, I have been shattered by the horror of recent events; the display of death and indiscriminate killing we've all witnessed has dented humanity's confidence in itself. Terror on this scale affects everybody on this small planet, and no one is free from the fallout. Yet we should remember that such violence is almost an everyday occurrence in some Muslim lands: it should not be exacerbated by revenge attacks on more innocent families and communities.

Along with most Muslims, I feel it a duty to make clear that such orchestrated acts of incomprehensible carnage have nothing to do with the beliefs of most Muslims. The Koran specifically declares: "If anyone murders an (innocent) person, it will be as if he has murdered the whole of humanity. And if anyone saves a person it will be as if he has saved the whole of humanity."

The Koran that our young people learn is full of stories and lessons from the history of humanity as a whole. The Gospels and the Torah are referred to; Jesus and Abraham are mentioned. In fact there is more mention in the Koran of the prophet Moses than of any other. It acknowledges the coexistence of other faiths, and in doing so acknowledges that other cultures can live together in peace.

"There is no compulsion in religion," it states, meaning that people should not be compelled to change their faith. Elsewhere it states, "To you, your religion; to me mine." Respect for religious values and justice is at the Koran's core. The Koranic history we teach our young provides ample examples of inter-religious and international relationships; of how to live together. But some extremists take elements of the sacred scriptures out of context. They act as individuals, and when they can't come together as part of a political structure or consultative process, you find these dissident factions creating their own rules, contrary to the spirit of the Koran - which demands that those recognized as being in charge of Muslims must consult together regarding society's affairs.

There is a whole chapter in the Koran entitled Consultation. Communal well being is central to human life, so there is a concept in Islam called Istihsan, which means "to look for the common good". Even though the Koran may lay down a diktat, scholars are also supposed to consider the circumstances prevalent at the time. Sometimes that means choosing the lesser of two evils or even suspending legislation if necessary: for instance, a person who steals bread during a famine is not treated as a thief.
