I knew nothing of the Alhambra, but as was the case with a previous piece of Manfred’s music, “Mystery of Tikal”, I wanted to know what it was that attracted him to this piece.
The Alhambra is a palace and fortress complex in southern Spain. It sits on a hilly terrace on the southeastern border of the city of Granada. Once the residence of the Muslim kings of Granada and their court, it was designed to reflect the very beauty of Paradise itself, with its gardens, fountains, streams, palace, and a mosque, all inside a fortress wall. It is now one of Spain's major tourist attractions and on my "Bucket List" -- those special things to see or do before I die. ;)  less

On February 17, 2007, several hundred members of the YouTube vloggerhood gathered at Pier 39 in San Francisco to meet each other, have some fun, get free stuff, and shoot some video. During the course   more...of the day I bribed a politician, made up with Renetto, and even got a chance to ask Chad Hurley what he thinks of the competition from LiveVideo... really!

This is a family slideshow that I made for my adopted daughter Mary Cruz.
She came to live with me 4 months ago. She comes from a very poor family in Mexico.
I am sharing this video with you because we   more...sometimes take things for granted.
I thank God for all the blessings I get everyday. She visited San Francisco for the first time 3 weeks ago. She said something that caught my attention she said.
“My eyes hurt to see so much beauty in on place, I wish my brain keep this pictures for ever” I had been in San Francisco hundreds of times, I know is beautiful but I think I was taking things for granted. We have to start looking the beauty around us; every place in the world has beautiful things to look at. Enjoy them all.
I hope you can understand my message; English is my second language :) I speak Spanish.
I am not in the pictures :) My daughter and her husband are the ones who took Mary Cruz for a short vacation.

"San Francisco" was actually inspired by Scott's paranoia about the Festival's (Monterey Pop Music Festival) potential gi-normousness.
My childhood chum (Scott Mckenzie) had this idea: 'Why don't   more...we write a song - well, why don't you, John, write one - saying something like, "If you go to San Francisco for the Monterey Pop Festival, like, behave yourselves - let's not have a big riot up there."

So the first thing that came to mind was sort of a Grecian Olympic athlete image with the wreath on the winner's head and flowers in your hair, so I thought that would be the proper image for the song.

About 20 minutes later I'd finished it and told Scott. He and I played it for Lou (Adler) that night, we recorded it the next night, and it came out the following Monday. And just as fast, it became a worldwide hit. I mean, one week, Scott wasn't even recording and the next week he was internationally known, the High Guru of Flower Power.
