Train system nowadays is a popular mode of transportation because it is fast, comfortable, and environment-friendly. But despite of its popularity, some unwanted problems do exist. France has taken an initiative to reduce truck-traffic and endorse train-traffic. China is discussing with Eu, of wether to build a railroad on the old Silk Road. Germany and other European countries   more...are using public trams to haul containers through city traffic more efficiently than trucks. Energy efficiency. That is what it is all about. Who is to gain. Less traffic congestion, pollution, noise pollution, maintenance, wear and tear. Oh, and it's cheaper -especially for long distances. Oh, and it will be cheaper by each year, as trains run on electricity, which can be produced in various ways....oppose to air freight, and most trucks. Ships can take more, but take longer time. I guess I got a one-track mind.  less

Train crash test--gnarly!!!

After getting a speeding ticket in Washington State, and finally getting to Montana, the driving got very enjoyable. Reason being, that at that time, the only posted speed limit in Montana was "Reasonable   more...& Prudent". Which for me was about 100 MPH (160 KM/H). You can see the now, legendary "Reasonable & Prudent" speed limit sign, on the first highway overpass, in this video.

This video shows the mountains along Interstate 90, and then US Highway 93 to Flathead Lake. My 100 MPH driving was toward the end of this video, on the flat land. All in all, I'd have to say that driving in Montana, was the best driving experience of my life. Not having to be constantly, watching the speedometer is good.  less

What it says. I was on my way to a pub in Carleton Place and the Santa Train was making its way through towns in The Valley. I happened to arrive when it was already pulled into the station in Carleton   more...Place. Unfortunately, the station is right smack in the middle of the crossroads for getting from one side of Carleton Place and the other, the train was very long, and all other cross streets go over level crossings. We had to wait while the train did what it was going to do and pull out of town.... 30 minutes later.
