Solveig was born 18th of February 1943 in the county of Lyngdal. Her mother was Norwegian and her father German.
  more...Until the age of two she resided in a children's home. Then she was moved to the Emma Hjorth institution.
In 1975 Solveig moved in with Richard Norton and his cohabitant.
Solveig was in daycare at the institution during that period.

Richard took Solveig with him to his home town of Seattle, where she met his family. Solveig and Richard also travelled to Madrid and Mallorca in Spain.

Also, the had a long car trip to Leningrad via Finland and Sweden.

You could very well say that Solveig was a well-travelled lady, who got to experience many exciting things outside the institutions.

In 1987, she moved back to Emma Hjort, where she was exposed to mistreatment. After much media attention, Solveig was moved to Aas in 1991. The move was originally meant to be a short stay, but eventually became a permanent one for her.

Her in Aas, she was taken well care of and they found a method that reduced her self-hurting very much.

Solveig's life quality has been good during these 16 years that she has lived here in Aas.

She has had people at her side that have treated her with respect and humility. She has had days filled with activity, including house-work and making food.

Solveig enjoyed be out in natural surroundings. When she became unable to walk, she got her own wheelchair. She loved to go out and didn't care if it was windy or raining. She also loved tub-baths and enjoyed drinking coffee and eating chocolate or doughnuts while listening to good music.

Her summer holidays were spent at Eidene Holiday Center with boating and swimming. She has even made a bungie-jump.

Those of us that have spent a lot of time with Solveig are grateful for all she has given us. Being together with Solveig has enriched our lives.

Solveig died 11th December 2007.

Solveig, you are for ever in our hearts.
