 | | Longest political vlog I will ever make probably 25:46You might hit the "pause"-button first and let it load. This is excruciatingly long. With good reason. ndclark said: "Peace. We need peace around the world. The world is in definite need more...of peace...but there can be no peace as long as we have idiots, around the globe that are threatening European nations and that are threatening the friends of the most powerful country in the world, which is the USA."
"If someone were to come in to your home...and shoot your wife and kill your children....rape your wife, kill you and you have a weapon to destroy the person that is coming in to your home...and you don't do anything, you are not worth your salt as a human being,
...and I'd have to say, _you_ don't deserve to live.
If you can't protect the people you love, if you can stand up tfor your own home, for your own country and you wanna be passive. And peace doesn't come without a price. And that price is spillt in blood of people -innocent people..."
"Osama Bin Laden was obviously behind the 9/11 attack"
My question would be: Who was behind him in that case?
Would the US have attacked Burma or Lebanon if they had "harbored" any terrorists? I doubt that.
So the attack on Afghanistan was justified, because they were "harboring" terrorists? How about Pakistan? They have admitted harboring them.
I would prefer this analogy: If someone came to your home, after you had taken away their eldest son and replaced him with one of your own, were to shoot you in the leg, or some other non-fatal gunshot wound, and if you had an arsenal to pulverize that person.... and you don't do anything irrational, then you are not worth the diploma for being the biggest war-enticing and globally oppressing country, in the entire world.
And I'd say, your children don't deserve to die or be tricked into sacrificing their lives and at the very least the quality of their lives. less Tags: ndclark glennid10t jarhood cortmeister inflammatory unpopular pop demo cracy righteous justified fair elitist nationalist naive war money tax oil corruption corporation government collapse leader loss suffering poverty undermining food dumping gun trade Category: Video Blogs Views: 236 Comments: 41 Added: May 16, 07 By: mercofspeech | | | | | Response To glennid10t About Iraq Occupation 06:01I transcribed glennid10t’s video, he says, “ I really think that it is a “no brainer”, and I do agree that to save our troops from fighting and dying, um, you have to take them out of the fight. But is more...that really the best solution for our future and the entire planet? You know, let’s face it, America isn’t really doing anything it hasn’t done, um, in our short history. We’ve invaded and exploited for the benefit of our population from the beginning. You know, it’s only been 150 years or so, but our Government and the President ran the Native Americans off of their lands by using the Cavalry. That military action facilitated expansion, which lead to farming. Farming became an economic force that would have never taken place without stealing this land. Technology like freight trains, cotton gins and steamboats would have never have been so important to the Industrial Revolution. So in a way I guess crime does pay, and in part has made the lives of ordinary Americans what it is today." "That is why I think America will always take over the resources, by force if needed, to fuel the American machine. This is also why I think, the reason, were so interested in the Middle East is to gain control of the largest oil reserves in the world. It has nothing to do with freeing those supposedly oppressed citizens. Why would we be concerned with a democratic Iraq, while genocide of a thousand times worse is happening in countries all over Africa?" "It’s because Iraq is 2nd to Iran in oil reserves, which combined, most experts say will only last about 40 years at current consumption rates. So “timing” is very important. America simply can’t until the oil to runs out before deciding what to do. I think it’s unfortunate but the troops are necessary to occupy Iraq. It’s a valid strategy. But the invasion, after ah, after we invaded, it had already started the American machine into motion and that “machine” is destined to control the entire globe." "I really think this plan or this idea started from, in the 70’s when the flow of oil was upset by greedy, non-American, oil controlling nations. And, ah, you know, I know you’re old enough to remember how the shortages effected our society and, you know, waiting in line, going to the gas station every other day, that sort of thing. But just think how, you know, smaller, powerless country must have coped with it?" "That is why I think that for America to be in control of our destiny, we must control the oil. Exiting (leaving Iraq) now and bringing home the troops, truly wastes the money that has been spent on this necessary occupation. It has to take place at some time. Following through and gaining control of the resources that our current and future enemies require to run their countries, makes a lot more sense from the militaristic and economic point of view. What if, after all this fighting and stealing of land and resources, America was able to create a scenario, where a global economy becomes possible? Would the world be a better place if food, energy, restrictions on pollution, crime, access to goods and services where under one large umbrella without political embargoes, irrespective of physical borders." "We’ve seen how rich countries with oil have become, but if that wealth were to be American controlled, what could this nation do? Would people a hundred years from now look back look back at history and see this, what’s happening right now, as a natural progression of the mightiest nation making the toughest decisions for the benefit of them? Could this be done without our military occupying the Middle East right now? Could this be the ultimate plan our government must succeed at? Or, are we going to ignore the fact that at current rates, America has the most to lose when it come to world policy and influence over the next 40 years or so, by NOT controlling the oil flow." "You know, I don’t know the answers, but I hope that our Government thinks about decisions that less Tags: glennid10t cortmeister iraq occupation manifest destiny evil war terror bush wrong oil Category: Video Blogs Views: 59 Comments: 11 Added: May 15, 07 By: cortmeister | | | | | Re Socialism is badright? 09:41I say, lets do a single payer funded healthcare system that is run by the Government, Medicare for everyone, once and for all. Posted on Thu, Feb. 21, 2008 Police Concerned About Order To Stop Weapons Screening At Obama Rally By JACK DOUGLAS Jr. Star-Telegram Staff Writer DALLAS -- Security details at Barack Obama's rally Wednesday stopped screening people for weapons at the front gates more than an hour before the Democratic presidential candidate took the stage at Reunion Arena.
The order to put down the metal detectors and stop checking purses and laptop bags came as a surprise to several Dallas police officers who said they believed it was a lapse in security.
Dallas Deputy Police Chief T.W. Lawrence, head of the Police Department's homeland security and special operations divisions, said the order -- apparently made by the U.S. Secret Service -- was meant to speed up the long lines outside and fill the arena's vacant seats before Obama came on.
"Sure," said Lawrence, when asked if he was concerned by the great number of people who had gotten into the building without being checked. But, he added, the turnout of more than 17,000 people seemed to be a "friendly crowd."
The Secret Service did not return a call from the Star-Telegram seeking comment.
Doors opened to the public at 10 a.m., and for the first hour security officers scanned each person who came in and checked their belongings in a process that kept movement of the long lines at a crawl. Then, about 11 a.m., an order came down to allow the people in without being checked.
Several Dallas police officers said it worried them that the arena was packed with people who got in without even a cursory inspection.
They spoke on condition of anonymity because, they said, the order was made by federal officials who were in charge of security at the event.
"How can you not be concerned in this day and age," said one policeman. less Tags: barack obama assassination jfk rfk mlk secret service dallas fort worth kill cortmeister Category: News Views: 252 Comments: 10 Added: Feb 22, 08 By: cortmeister | | | | | Stop The Iraq Occupation Bring Our Troops HOME! 09:53Our troops need to come home, this is not a war, it’s an occupation! Studying the fascist regimes of Hitler (Germany), Mussolini (Italy), Franco more...(Spain), Suharto (Indonesia), and Pinochet (Chile), Dr. Britt found they all had 14 elements in common. He calls these the identifying characteristics of fascism. The excerpt is in accordance with the magazine's policy.
Quote: The 14 characteristics are:
1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism
Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.
2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights
Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.
3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause
The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.
4. Supremacy of the Military
Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.
5. Rampant Sexism
The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Opposition to abortion is high, as is homophobia and anti-gay legislation and national policy.
6. Controlled Mass Media
Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.
7. Obsession with National Security
Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.
8. Religion and Government are Intertwined
Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.
9. Corporate Power is Protected
The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.
10. Labor Power is Suppressed
Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed .
11.Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts
Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts is openly attacked, and governments often refuse to fund the arts.
12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment
Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.
13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption
Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for less Tags: bush president life fascism dictator characteristics fourteen doctor lawrence britt free inquiry cortmeister Category: Video Blogs Views: 81 Comments: 9 Added: Aug 19, 07 By: cortmeister | | | | | Someday They Will Pay 09:58Do not forget Staff Sgt. Staff Sgt. Ryan Maseth was killed in Iraq on January 2, 2008, he was 24, a decorated soldier, and a qualified Weapon’s Master. Staff Sgt. Ryan Maseth wasn’t just an Army Ranger; he was an elite Green Beret. He not die from enemy fire, he wasn’t killed by some roadside IED, but from an improperly grounded water pump in shower room in his living quarters. Staff Sgt. Maseth’s barrack’s were built (and supposedly maintained) with a cost-plus contract awarded to Kellogg Brown and Root. As it turns out, KBR improperly installed the water pump which was never grounded, and then never inspected; even though the problem was reported numerous times by the troops and KBR billed the United States Taxpayers for inspecting, maintaining and fixing the electrical pump and systems in the barracks. Apparently KBR contractors did attempt a fix, they bypassed the circuit breaker. less Tags: staff sergeant ryan maseth army ranger green beret kbr electrocuted jamie leigh jones iraq troops cortmeister Category: News Views: 107 Comments: 4 Added: Mar 21, 08 By: cortmeister | | | | | Why I Believe In The Theory Of Evolution 09:00Response to Castaa's "Dear God" question, "Why do you believe or disbelieve in the theory of evolution". For me, context is everything, DiMartini and other architects that boasted (pre-9/11) of the WTC Towers more...strength and survivability where talking about "hits from airliners" that were accidental or inadvertent. The only comparable event was the WW2 era Bomber plane that strayed into NYC in a dense fog and accidentally hit the Empire State Bldg. The Architects never planned on a plane hitting the towers at FULL SPEED! Speed is the crucial factor here, more speed, more kinetic energy. They simply didn’t anticipate that fully fueled planes would ever be flown at maximum speed into the WTC Towers or any bldg. for that matter. The speed of the jets along with their massive fuel capacity was a one-two punch that the Towers could not withstand. All that kinetic energy blasted away the insulation on the beams, provided that there was adequate fire insulation to begin with. DiMartini was talking about slow speed, accidental hits, not high speed intentional hits. I don’t think that fireman Joe Casaliggi was saying that these supposed “controlled demolitions” were the “cause” of the small size of the debris found in the aftermath of the collapse. Joe was simply explaining what he saw and experienced as he and his fellow firefighters worked “the pile”, I think you may be reading too much into he’s saying. If you have some other clip where Joe Casaliggi says, “I believe that controlled demolitions brought down the towers”, I’ll stand corrected. As far as these supposed “secondary explosions” that directly preceded the collapse of each tower, I’ve seen the same thing happen in catastrophic building fires, on a smaller scale of course. Just before collapse, there were open rooms and spaces in the towers that were full of smoke and fire. As the weight of the upper floors bore down on the fire softened steel, the building started to collapse. That creates overpressure, as the towers come down, smoke and flame are pushed out. The reporter in the chopper was reporting what he “thought” was an explosion, and I’ll admit that the massive over pressure of the collapse and the subsequent fire and smoke that were ejected, looked like an explosion. But, explosions are unique, they create seismic forces that can be seen and measured. I’m sure that things were popping all over in the fires and that the firefighters did hear explosion, I contend that they were not demolition charges. less Tags: 911 wtc collapse conspiracy demolition controlled pnac thecharmingdeviant cortmeister debate Category: Video Blogs Views: 86 Comments: 20 Added: Apr 27, 07 By: cortmeister | | | | | At Home With Jebidiah Cortmeisters Family 03:26Jebidiah Cortmeister tries to sermonize to all the believers on the “Church of the Internets” as his rambunctious boys JoeBob, BillyBob, and BobbyBob get into comic mischief! For instance, according to my staff, I'm not supposed to write anything without mentioning that our grassroots campaign needs the support of great progressives like YOU and asking you to click here and chip in a few bucks so I can take on the Republican attack machine. See? That kind of thing totally distracts the reader from my point, which is this: If you ever wonder whether we really need public financing of elections in this country, try running for office. You might think I spend most of my time kissing babies or shaking hands or having serious policy debates in which my sparkling wit and superior knowledge of the issues combine to sweep audiences off their feet. But no. I spend most of my time doing this. (picture of Al on the phone shlubbing for money) That's me during "call time," which is basically what candidates for public office do all day. The guy on the right is Kris, my call time manager. It's his job to sit with me for hours at a time and make sure I'm "making the ask" on every call. For instance, he's currently pacing behind me reminding me to make another "ask" in here. Here it is, Kris: please click here and give me money. Okay? While I'm sitting there with Kris, I often think about how badly we need public financing of elections in this country. We need it because I should be out talking to Minnesotans about the issues that matter to their families. We need it so that I can spend my days meeting with policy experts and reading up on legislation and working with progressives all over the state to build a movement that can take on Norm Coleman next fall. And we need it because members of Congress are too beholden to special interests, and that costs taxpayers, big time. The Medicare Part D prescription drug bill, which might be the most corrupt piece of legislation in history, was a huge giveaway of taxpayer funds to the big pharmaceutical companies. The 2005 energy bill handed billions of dollars of our money to big oil companies, essentially just for the hell of it. Did the Republican majority pass those bills out of the goodness of their hearts? Of course not. They passed them because they rely on huge PAC checks from these big corporate interests to fund television commercials calling Democrats "big spenders." Let me select a totally random example: Minnesota Senator Norm Coleman (R-PHARMA). In the first fundraising quarter this year, he raised around $1.5 million. About a third of that came from PACs -- tobacco, coal, insurance, etc. Over the course of his career, he's taken hundreds of thousands of dollars from Big Oil and Big Pharma. And, of course, he voted in favor of that horrible drug bill and that horrible energy bill. I'm doing things a little differently. In my first fundraising quarter (which was really only 45 days since I announced on February 14), I raised around $1.35 million. But instead of relying on PACs, I relied mostly on small contributions from over 10,000 donors (over 90 percent of whom gave less than $100), more than twice as many as Coleman. (I should point out that you can help, too, by clicking here. See, I'm learning!) But even though thousands of people have already helped without my having to call them, I still spend a lot of time on the phone. Don't get me wrong -- I don't mind talking to people about my campaign and what I'd do in the Senate to push for universal health care, stem cell research, and an end to the war in Iraq.
