Data Mining By Big Brother

One of the nice things about working with these Gordon Lightfoot songs is the opportunity to research that about which he sings. Coal mining wasn't something that I knew anything about, but as I searched   more...for the photographs used in this vistory, I wanted to know more. This information was current in 2003:
1.The United States produces about 35%, or 1 billion tons, of the world's coal supply—more than any other country produces.
2.The average coal miner is 45 years old and has 20 years of experience.
3.Coal generates more than half of the electricity used in the United States.
4.Each person in the United States uses 3.8 tons of coal each year.
5.U.S. coal deposits contain more energy than that of all the world's oil reserves.
6.The United States has more than a 250-year supply of coal, if it continues using coal at the same rate at which it uses coal today (2003).  less

The Big Brother State is an educational film about what politicians claim to be protection of our freedom but what we refer to as repressive legislation.
Since terrorism has become a global threat, especially   more...after 9/11, governments all over the world have started enforcing laws which, so
the governments say, should increase national security.
These laws obviously aim at another goal: the states gaining more and more control of their citizens at the cost of our privacy and freedom.  less
