The story follows a young journalist named Jin who specializes in researching and exposing the dark origins of popular fairy tales. Many of the cute little fables parents tell their children initially had more sinister meanings than most would like to believe.

It is her morbid curiosity that causes Jin to ponder if there’s a dark side behind the lights and glamour of Christmas. In Yearly Harvest, she decides to examine the notorious holiday, which she considers the biggest fairy tale of them all – hoping to find a spooky story for her upcoming article in a prominent magazine. She traces many of the traditions to the remote town of Selah.

When she arrives on the 21st of December, she’s first notices an odd absence of decorations. Then her curiosity is further peaked when her questions about Christmas are met with either silence, or hostility. Early on, she is nearly attacked in a restaurant for bringing up the holiday. The person who comes to her aide happens to be Private Investigator Amy Carson; Amy is looking into unsolved reports of missing children in the area. Under the suspicion that their goals may be linked somehow, Jin and Amy decide to work together.

As they get closer to uncovering the truth, they learn that Christmas in Selah is far more frightening than festive.  less
