Network is famous for establishing the phrase
"I'm mad as hell and I'm not   more...going to take it anymore."

It seems to me that Beale's weak-up appeal to the American public is just as applicable today as it was 30 years ago.
Though the Internet does today provide an unparalleled alternate source of information that was not available 30 years ago, sadly it is still shockingly underused.
Official black & white explanations for events such as 9/11 and the Oklahoma City bombing are glibly accepted and seldom subjected to any type of reality check.
Pieces such as "Loose Change" are valiant wake-up calls - no doubt - but the enchantment is deep and the subjects difficult to reach. Howard puts his finger on the crux of the matter almost better than almost anyone else.  less

On September 11th 2001, BBC   more...World reported at 4:57pm Eastern Time that the Salomon Brothers Building
(more commonly known as WTC7 or World Trade Building 7)
had collapsed.

This even made the 5pm EST headlines, what is bizarre is that the building did not actually collapse until 5:20pm EST.

9/11 was unusual enough, without BBC World being able to foretell the destiny of WTC 7.

What is even stranger, is that the women reporter is telling the world that the building had collapsed when you can see it in the background over her left shoulder.

Then at 5:15pm EST, just five minutes before the building did actually collapse, her live connection from New York to London mysteriously fails.

So the question is, on 9/11 how did the BBC learn that WTC7 collapsed 23 minutes before it actually did.

Building Seven was 47 storeys, modern in design with structural steel throughout, yet symmetrically collapsed in 6.5 seconds, was someone leaking information.

No steel framed skyscraper has ever collapsed due to fire, before or after 9/11, most people who find out about WTC7, believe it was brought down by a controlled demolition, even demolition experts agree.  less

The myriad of theories surrounding 9/11 have served the perpetrators well for over 7 years, giving the false impression freedom of speech was alive   more...and well but ultimately spreading an almost mindnumbing confusion.
Most "911truth" organizations are run by the same people who organised this sham. This in order to 'control' the opposition, for as long as possible, in the hope it would all fade away one day in the public consciousness.
As most theories have built on the false assumption that airplanes were involved, the 'plane' myth has held strong - in spite of the widespread understanding no airliner crashed at the Pentagon or in Shanksville.
The misheld belief that 'thousands of Newyorkers' saw passenger planes crash into the twin towers is upheld solely by the relentless pounding of the mainstream media, the higher levels of which have complied to the requirements of this military false-flag operation.
Virtually all firsthand witnesses to the first "plane" were newspeople as shown in SEPTEMBER CLUESpart D. As for the second "plane", MOST witnesses on the street reported 'a SMALL PLANE' or even 'A MISSILE' . These reports were actually aired on the day but never again. Of course, a plane-shaped cruise missile with wings and tail section (such as a JASSM cruise missile) would be perceived as a 'small plane' to most people :in fact, a study of 12000 pages of testimonies has determined the majority of eyewitnesses reported a small aircraft - NOT a large airliner.
In SEPTEMBER CLUES part F we see that the alleged authors of the "amateur" videos ALSO were people linked to the newsmedia / film and video industry. All of those clips are, by now, proven forgeries : Many turn out to be simply cropped duplicates of the same composite, while most disqualify each other by the way of unconcilable differences : trajectories, angles, pitch, yaw, speeds, lighting, hues - you name it. The few clips showing the actual 'plane' penetration depict a wide body (aluminum) airliner penetrating the steel-frame tower effortlessly without even the brittle tail section breaking off. This is of course utterly absurd and makes a joke of the laws of physics.
The current reluctance of most people to recognize and accept this research is - in many ways - understandable, the foremost cause being the massive conditioning power of the mainstream newsmedia.
However, the many mistakes made by the authors of these crude fabrications (which included digital simulations of the Manhattan landscape) will not stand the test of time. This branch of 9/11 truth research is naturally being vigorously attacked and billed as "disinformation" - as it contains the only tangible and repeatable proof of this murderous hoax : with no rubble to analyze and only speculation to go on, no one is going to prove HOW 3 towers collapsed nor IF or WHY a Norad standdown was ordered. On the other hand, the evidence of TV fakery cannot be suppressed no matter how hard the perpetrators may try.

Key Witness to WTC 7 Explosions Dead at 53
Emergency coordinator for the New York Housing Authority, and key 9/11 eyewitness, Barry Jennings has passed away with controversy   more... more...about WTC7 still hot as the BBC hit piece and NIST report have been released to counter Jennings exclusive testimony of explosions inside Building 7. Jennings passed away at age 53 from circumstances not yet disclosed.
A spokesperson for the Housing Authority has now confirmed his death, after weeks of rumors circulating online, but refused to give any further details. Several other individuals at the Housing Authority also confirmed that they knew Barry Jennings, and that indeed he had passed away about a month ago. No other details were available.
No one has yet been able to contact anyone in the Jennings family and the official cause of death is not yet known, but online comments have reported the date of death as August 19, 2008.
It is very unusual that a prominent — and controversial 9/11 witness would die only days before the release of NISTs report on WTC7 and shortly after a firestorm erupted over his testimony that he heard explosions inside the building prior to collapse of either tower and that there were dead bodies in the buildings blown-out lobby.
The BBC aired The Third Tower in July in attempt to debunk Barry Jennings account which is both contradictory and damaging to the official 9/11 story by making issue over whether or not he said he saw dead bodies in the lobby.
Yet Jennings own statement in an exclusive interview with Dylan Avery and Jason Bermas which has not been denied was: The fire fighter who took us down kept saying, Don’t look down. And I said, Why. And we were stepping over people you know, you can feel when you’re stepping over people.
Now the release of Jason Bermas Fabled Enemies is giving further exposure to Jennings controversial account. The film features a full interview with Barry Jennings, as well as the statements he and Michael Hess, who was also trapped with him inside WTC7, made to news media on the day of the attacks.
Barry Jennings reiterated in the exclusive interview his confusion over the explanation for WTC7s collapse given that he clearly heard explosions inside the building.
That interview was not released until June 2008 at the request of Mr. Jennings, who had received numerous threats to his job and asked that it be left out of Loose Change: Final Cut because of those threats.
Jennings statements have lit fire to questions about what really caused the sudden collapse of WTC7 just as NIST had hoped the release of their report would quash widespread beliefs that the building was brought down by controlled demolition.
News of Jennings death comes on the heels of losing another 9/11 hero and eyewitness Kenny Johannemann, who reportedly committed suicide 12 days before the seventh anniversary of 9/11. Johannemann is credited with saving at least one mans life on 9/11 and was also a witness to explosions in the towers.
NISTs report, as well as that of the 9/11 Commission (which did not even mention WTC7), completely ignored statements from the building leaseholder Larry Silverstein as well as numerous police, fire fighters and other eyewitnesses who have testified that they were warned about the buildings collapse and told to get back. One rescue worker even heard a countdown for the buildings implosion.
The truth about WTC7 will come out, and Barry Jennings testimony will not be in vain.

Interview with John Nash during episode 1 The programme traces the development of game theory with particular reference to the work of John Nash, who believed that all humans were inherently suspicious and selfish creatures that strategised constantly. Using this as his first premise, Nash constructed logically consistent and mathematically verifiable models, for which he won the Bank of Sweden Prize in Economic Sciences, commonly referred to as the Nobel Prize in Economics. He invented system games reflecting his beliefs about human behaviour, including one called "So Long Sucker---Fuck Your Buddy", in which the only way to win was to betray your playing partner, and it is from this game that the episode's title is taken. These games were internally coherent and worked correctly as long as the players obeyed the ground rules that they should behave selfishly and try to outwit their opponents, but when RAND's analysts tried the games on their own secretaries, they instead chose not to betray each other, but to cooperate every time. This did not, in the eyes of the analysts, discredit the models, but instead proved that the secretaries were unfit subjects.

What was not known at the time was that Nash was suffering from paranoid schizophrenia, and, as a result, was deeply suspicious of everyone around him—including his colleagues—and was convinced that many were involved in conspiracies against him. It was this mistaken belief that led to his view of people as a whole that formed the basis for his theories. Footage of an older and wiser Nash was shown in which he acknowledges that his paranoid views of other people at the time were false.

Curtis examines how game theory was used to create the USA's nuclear strategy during the Cold War. Because no nuclear war occurred, it was believed that game theory had been correct in dictating the creation and maintenance of a massive American nuclear arsenal—because the Soviet Union had not attacked America with its nuclear weapons, the supposed deterrent must have worked. This is a subject Curtis examined in his first series, Pandora's Box, and he reuses much of the same archive material in doing so.


Archive interview with R.D. Laing during episode 1A separate strand in the documentary is the work of R.D. Laing, whose work in psychiatry led him to model familial interactions using game theory. His conclusion was that humans are inherently selfish, shrewd, and spontaneously generate strategems during everyday interactions. Laing's theories became more developed when he concluded that some forms of mental illness were merely artificial labels, used by the state to suppress individual suffering. This belief became a staple tenet of counterculture during the 1960s. Reference is made to the Rosenhan experiment, in which bogus patients, surreptitiously self-presenting at a number of American psychiatric institutions, were falsely diagnosed as having mental disorders, while institutions, informed that they were to receive bogus patients, "identified" numerous supposed imposters who were actually genuine patients. The results of the experiment were a disaster for American psychiatry, because they destroyed the idea that psychiatrists were a privileged elite able to genuinely diagnose, and therefore treat, mental illness.

All these theories tended to support the beliefs of what were then fringe economists such as Friedrich von Hayek, whose economic models left no room for altruism, but depended purely on self-interest, leading to the formation of public choice theory. The final programme focussed on the concepts of positive and negative liberty introduced in the 1950s by Isaiah Berlin. Curtis briefly explained   more...how negative liberty could be defined as freedom from coercion and positive liberty as the opportunity to strive to fulfill one's potential. Tony Blair had read Berlin's essays on the topic and wrote to him[4] in the late 1990s, arguing that positive and negative liberty could be mutually compatible. He never received a reply, as Berlin was on his death bed.

The programme began with a description of the Two Concepts of Liberty, reviewing Berlin's opinion that, since it lacked coercion, negative liberty was the 'safer' of the two. Curtis then explained how many political groups who sought their vision of freedom ended up using violence to achieve it.

For example the French revolutionaries wished to overthrow a monarchical system which they viewed as antithetical to freedom, but in so doing ended up with the so-called Reign of Terror. Similarly, the Communist revolutionaries in Russia, who sought to overthrow the old order and replace it with a society in which everyone was equal, ended up creating a totalitarian regime which used violence to achieve its ends.

Using violence, not simply as a means to achieve one's goals, but also as an expression of freedom from Western bourgeois norms, was an idea developed by African revolutionary Frantz Fanon. He developed it from the Existentialist ideology of Jean-Paul Sartre, who argued that terrorism was a "terrible weapon but the oppressed poor have no others." [5]. These views were expressed, for example, in the revolutionary film The Battle of Algiers.

This programme also explored how economic freedom had been used in Russia and the problems this had introduced. A set of policies known as "shock therapy" were brought in mainly by outsiders, which had the effect of destroying the social safety net that existed in most other western nations and Russia. In the latter, the sudden removal of e.g. the subsidies for basic goods caused their prices to rise enormously, making them hardly affordable for ordinary people. An economic crisis escalated during the 1990s and some people were paid in goods rather than money. Yeltsin was accused by his parliamentary deputies of "economic genocide", due to the large numbers of people now too poor to eat. Yeltsin responded to this by removing parliament's power and becoming increasingly autocratic. At the same time, many formerly state-owned industries were sold to private businesses, often at a fraction of their real value. Ordinary people, often in financial difficulties, would sell shares, which to them were worthless, for cash, without appreciating their true value. This ended up with the rise of the Oligarchs—super-rich businessmen who attributed their rise to the sell offs of the '90s. It resulted in a polarisation of society into the poor and ultra-rich, and indirectly led to a more autocratic style of government under Vladimir Putin, which, while less free, promised to provide people with dignity and basic living requirements.

There was a similar review of post-war Iraq, in which an even more extreme "shock therapy" was employed—the removal from government of all Ba'ath party employees and the introduction of economic models which followed the simplified economic model of human beings outlined in the first two programmes—this had the result of immediately disintegrating Iraqi society and the rise of two strongly autocratic insurgencies, one based on Sunni-Ba'athist ideals and another based on revolutionary Shi'a philosophies.
