GREYHOUND RESCUE PART 2 -- Greyhound history dates back at least 4,000 years. Originally from Egypt, they were taken by traders to Britain, Europe and the Orient. They were valued as hunters of such   more...prey as gazelle, deer, fox, and rabbit. The sport of Greyhound racing (chasing a rabbit-like lure) has been around since the 16th Century, and some participants have been clocked at speeds in excess of 40 miles per hour. While racing takes advantage of this breeds natural ability, it is the fate of these beautiful animals when their racing days are over that has necessitated the organization of Greyhound rescues and adoptions around the world. These wonderful dogs, once rehabilitated with lots of love and patience, become well-behaved and much loved members of the family.

Greyhounds make greyt pets! They desparately need adopters and are the best pets ever!

I'm currently fostering this wonderful Labradoodle puppy for a puppy rescue here in Colorado, and I don't know how to contact the Obama's nationwide puppy search. The rescue doesn't know I'm making this   more...video, for she'll be adopted to the first person who comes once she's made available- but I adore her, and want her to have the BEST possible home, for she's a real treasure, and my circumstances aren't right for adopting her myself. She has a winning personality. She's extremely friendly, great with people and kids and other animals (even cats), docile where it counts (doesn't mind her nails being filed, vaccinations), she's been wormed and vaccinated by the rescue, and is just finishing up the care for an infection she had when she arrived at the rescue. She eats well and has gained 2 lbs. in the past week. She'll likely be on the small end of Labradoodle size at 40-50 lbs full grown... which is still decent sized (not a "girly dog" as Obama once referred to a small breed). She has the doodle coat and doesn't shed. If my circumstances were different, I'd adopt her in a heartbeat. Of the fosters I've had, this one is an absolute treasure, and deserves the best home possible. This video was originally uploaded to CNN ireports.  less

Please ask your local representative to help grant adoptees access to their biological family's ongoing medical information! Medical history isn't always enough anymore. Adoptees are from various backgrounds   more...& generations; they are from all over the world. To me, this is fine if it was even done anonymously; if it can even be done virtually; we can have virtual numbers to use our credit cards online - let's create a system to protect the privacy of those who request it, but at least allow adoptees to be given the ongoing medical info. of their bio. family so when his or her doctor needs it, he or she can know it. This can help diagnose cancer, diabetes, and other life threatening disease and possibly help save adoptees' live longer; if not, save some of their lives!
