The images are shocking. Armoured tanks plow into crowds of people, flames from burning buses light up the night sky, and bleeding   more...bodies are rushed to hospital. For weeks student protesters in Beijing's Tiananmen Square have been demonstrating for political reform of China's communist government. A declaration of martial law has failed to quell the protests, and now the government has called in the military. Death is all around as the CBC's Tom Kennedy reports.

The massacre begins shortly after midnight as tanks and armoured personnel carriers roll through the streets, crushing hastily erected barricades and into Tiananmen Square. After launching tear gas and using loudspeakers to order people to leave, the army starts shooting. But the protesters fight back, beating army officers or simply standing their ground. They form human walls around foreign press to make sure the story gets out to the world.  less

This is my 1989 dance recital to "I'm Gonna Always Love You," from "The Muppets Take Manhattan." I was six at the time. The class is a Ballet/Tap combination class, which was called   more...Combo C. I still to this day love those feather boas. We should have been one of those classes where everyone stood there and stared at eachother, but we moved around, though we still all, well, looked at each other. For a bunch of kids between four and seven years old, we weren't bad.  less

(iPod) 1st performance ever of Jon Hammond original with all-star studio band: ALEX FOSTER-tenor sax, BARRY FINNERTY-gtr.,   more...CHUGGY CARTER-perc., BERNARD PURDIE-drums & JON HAMMOND at his 1959 B3 Organ in the now defunct but legendary club MIKELL'S that was located at corner Columbus & W.97th St. Mikell's was the studio musicians' hang until it sadly closed. It lasted from 1969-1991 run by Mike and Pat Mikell. Mike died one year ago Nov. 22, 2005 at age 80 of Lou Gehrig's Disease. Many well-known musicians felt at home there including Paul Schaffer of David Letterman's Late Night TV show. The night of this film Hugh Masakela came and hung out the entire night. Cornell Dupree came later and sat in with Jon's band that was known then as JON HAMMOND'S LATE RENT SESSION MEN, featured weekly on Manhattan Cable TV/Time Warner's JON HAMMOND SHOW late night TV Show now in it's 23rd year.
