Well this was very informative. I will admit that with my experience, a lot of girls are different. Obviously honking your horn is a bit.. well, not cool. Unless the girl specifically tells him to due to reasons that involve parents or dogs or something.
But yeah, it helped me out a bit. I just recently became single.. (too bad you live in Cali and I'm in Kentucky >_> ) So asking a girl out is actually something I'm shy about, since I also think a lot. "What if she says no, I still see her all the time" or "What if she is nice at first and wants to get intimate then accuses me of rape because {insert psychotic reason here} and I get in trouble" or whatever.
Heck, I'm a nice guy. If it were me in that situation, I honestly love meeting parents. Because if things happen later and there MIGHT be a marriage proposal, gotta have the parents to trust me. One of my exes had that issue.. her parents were friendly, and I was friendly.. but I have a not-so-good background that they were afraid of, cuz they think I would resort to something bad and lead their youngest daughter into trouble.
Puts me in a tough spot. Anymore, I just shut my mouth, and if asked questions about growing up, I keep it short and sweet.
You're cute, by the way. Your near-future-date-guy is a lucky fella.

Uh huh, I see how it is. :P Nah, I'm kidding.
Which brings me to a point you made. (you can reply when you get out of class :P) I do joke around, and I have a witty and somewhat sarcastic sense of humor, but it's something that I feel can brighten the

mood, show them that I can have a good time, even when just having a conversation.
I know what you mean about the ethnicity thing. My ex was Indian, and her parents were obviously Indian. From their generation to now, they stay traditional and don't trust people outside of the Indian ethnicity. (not a race, because we're all human, right?) and to me, I think that kinda causes a little friction. Asian girls were actually a preference for me, to be honest. It seems shallow on a certain level, I guess, but... I dunno. Every one that I've met was pretty, smart, funny, witty, sarcastic, honest, deep, and adorable like, all as one person.
All my friends give me hell for that, but I don't care. Everyone has their preferences, and really, it's also good to keep an open mind. The girl I dated that I mentioned with the backstabbing parents was white, the girl before that was half-Japanese, half-Filipina.
I think the thing with parents is a complicated issue, and yet, it is relatively simple. Just that a lot of people don't see it that way.
Fuck, my responses are too long. I need to shorten them up a bit. Sorry for wasting your time. :P Heheh.

On a different note, I've dated a lot of guys outside of my ethnicity before, and I'm always SO worried that his parents will freak when they find out I'm not white or whatever. Luckily, I can charm the pants off of anyone so that's usually not a problem.

But that's how it is with guys! You have to be prepared for the worst when meeting someone's parents. The easiest thing to do is just be a COMPLETE gentleman, act like you've known her parents forever, compliment their home, compliment the lawn, joke around, all that good stuff. Thank them for getting to meet them, all of that. :P
I'm wasting time before class. I should NOT be responding to you, haha. I need to go get ready. BLAH.

LOL, who the heck drives up and honks or revs their engine. Thats pretty rude. Talk about ruining a first impression. Can't believe that actually happened to you. Those guys probably never got a second date :p

GOT THAT RIGHT!!!! This comment = AWESOME. The only guy who got multiple dates was Tommy. He deserved it. <3 Plus, he's awesome. I actually got in touch with him a little after making this vid and he and I are going on a date fairly soon.

It is! I got it at a thrift store for like 10 bucks. Haha! And yeah, I took them down just to avoid getting flack from my real life friends who view this. Sucks, I know. :( After I make a few more of these advice vids, I'll probably go back to vlogging

What's wrong with not ringing the doorbell and calling on the cellphone? What if your parents are busy or whatever? How can they be bad guys altogether? Also, a truly traditional chinese guy/girl would wait until getting to know the person really

well, and then introduce the parents, right? Also, surface behavior can be acted, so you never really know if someone is a good/bad guy until you get to know someone over several months. Thanks for the refreshing and frank point of view, although I disagree with some (just a few) of your dorky views. Thumbs up. :D

Oh, ALSO!! I'm not Chinese! I think that's what you were saying? Haha. Yeah, I'm filipino!! In the Philippines, there is a lot of tradition and all that, but I'm California raised, haha! I do have a lot of the values my parents gave me (LOVE YOU MOM

AND DAD!! HOPE YOU'RE READING THIS!!), but I meant that I'm a traditional girl in the sense that I like being treated like a lady. Sorry if that doesn't make sense! And thanks for taking the time to write me your comment. I'm always open to other perspectives!

about that whole cell phone thing. i suggest when the guy drives up he can call on the cell and say "I'm here, I'm coming to the door" at that point the girl can either say "Fine" or "Don't bother my dad is drunk and in his underwear watching TV so
more...
I'll just come out." haha
And as far as girls like you Cheri who see the cell cattle call as rude, no better time than the first date to say when he calls you "please come to the door". Later when you get in the car you can explain why you and your family view the cell call as rude. Obviousy no one wants to insult someone they are dating so both sides should make an honest effort to express what they are thinking. We all come from a different background and are taught (or not taught) to behave in different ways when dating. So unless the two of you communicate what is going on in your head it is unfair to label each other as "rude", "unthoughtful" and more without at least expressing it directily to the person. If you say what you feel and the person ignores you then can say they are rude.
This is especially important in the world today as there is so much inter racial dating and what may be obvious to you by how you were raised may not be so obvious to someone else who was raised differently. It is all part of trying to find if your date is someone you can connect with mentally and emotionally.

Thank you for this comment. I completely agree! I guess I haven't made it clear in my vids that it's also up to the girl to make a lot of effort in a date as well.
Lately, my dates have all been about having the guy impress ME though. I guess I never

really thought about it... Thanks for putting it into perspective for me!!
