The ponchos are given to riders on the Maid of the Mist, a boat that goes to the base of the Falls. Everyone else wishes they had gone on the Maid of the Mist first!

What a great way to cool off!!!!! The only time I was at the falls, in 1968 or 1969 I think, one side was "turned off" (LOL) for repairs. BIG HUGS

It may be an informal procession, but arriving at the top to see the priest with his arms raised to the sky, offering to placate the gods of thunder, is enough to put a chill into anyone.
