I viewed this a couple of times when it was first posted, and I have come back to it after a little time to watch it again. Even though you find this type of writing to be emotionally painful, I find it worthwhile as a reader. We all read news stories
more...
like these your poems are based on and ask "How could anyone go on living after such a tragedy?" "What was the point of that violence?" or "How can that perpetrator live with their guilt?" There will never be answers, but this kind of writing does try to tell the story from a truly human (albeit sometimes evil) standpoint, so unlike our news, which is stripped to the facts or recited to us in a neutral monotone. Perhaps the neutrality with which news is delivered is even part of what inures us to it.

At times, it does seem like we're assaulted daily with such news.

I'm holding out for the "Only Good News" show. I've said for years that something like that would get high ratings. Any chance it could become a reality?

Sometimes I wonder if I am insane or if the world is insane. I think the world is crazy. I hope you find inspiration for your writing in beautiful things. x0x

the world is a place full of wonderful love and horrible hate....I stopped the paper and I dont watch the news much any more, it was too much for me to handle, the other day I was having a hard time with the kids, my husband came in and said did ya hear
more...
about the 4yr old that was killed(I wont go into deltails) but what he had to say, I needed to hear at that moment, I looked down at my 4 and 2yr old and cried, we cant put them in a bubble and keep them protected from the world.....it is so scarey out there.....turning off the TV or tossing the paper out doesnt stop reality......I fully understand your feelings....(((hugs)))

Thank you. More of this concern would mean less suffering.

I'll never understand why human beings are so bad to eachother.
It haunts me.
Can't watch the news before I sleep.
Too painful.
I cry too much as it is.

I have no answers or words of comfort except to say I share your grief at the world.
Bertrand Russell said it best when he said "Three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, have governed my life: the longing for love, the search for knowledge

and unbearable pity for the suffering of mankind."
