if the videos are 'copyrighted' why dont the crack down on screencap editting too? thats more of a steal then the videos, atleast we credit the creators for both the music and the animation, for the pictures, everyone like 'oh yah, i made this, dont
more...
steal it.' when, its technicly not even your own work!!! i think thats what they are thinking with the video, yes, but atleast we dont alter the videos to the point where we can call them ours. the videos will alway belong to the company, credit or not, and, if they didnt want us using their videos, WHY MAKE THEM AVALIBLE TO THE PUBLIC??? Someone was bound to think about it sooner or later like they do with the music.
i dont know though, i just think that they shouldnt get mad because we are using the videos, atleast we give them credit.

FYI - precedent was set in August 08...
In August of 2008 U.S. District Judge Jeremy Fogel of San Jose, California ruled that copyright holders cannot order a deletion of an online file without determining whether that posting reflected "fair use" of

the copyrighted material. The case involved Stephanie Lenz, a writer and editor from Gallitzin, Pennsylvania, who made a home video of her 13-month-old son dancing to Prince's song Let's Go Crazy and posted the 29-second video on YouTube. Four months later, Universal Music, the owner of the copyright to the song, ordered YouTube to remove the video enforcing the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Lenz notified YouTube several weeks more...later that her video was within the scope of fair use, and demanded that it be restored. YouTube complied after two weeks, as required by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, to see whether Universal planned to sue Lenz for infringement. Lenz then sued Universal Music in California for her legal costs, claiming the music company had acted in bad faith by ordering removal of a video that represented fair-use of the song.

It's not only music video's they delete. I just had a video deleted I recorded myself.
They do send a mail to tell the video got deleted but no explanation. If I violated any copyright regulation I'd like to know which.
Is it fragments of music I sometimes

use in my video's? I always thought they fall under the "fair use policy". If this is incorrect they should explain why.
And as another user of Livevideo already explained: Only the copyright holder can call in a copyright infringement, not the LV admin.

Too true, sadly. No one here says that they own the shows they use in their vids, yet those big companies just want to stomp down on THEIR OWN FANS LIKE INSECTS. No one is hearing is benefiting financially from putting these vids on, so why do they care

HEAR HEAR!! *Throws confetti*
Fan vids are actually like free promotions for shows and songs so that's an even bigger reason to leave them be.
I can't tell you how many animes or shows or cartoons or songs that I've gotten into all because I saw it in
more...
some AMV/fanvid.
Fan vid makers create out of love, not to steal.
Free promotion, showing some love, showing off your editing skills, what's not to like? Why can't people see that?

Thank you for doing this. LV has been working on my last nerve. I already hated YT, so that wasn't a surprise... this is just getting ridiculous. LV old slogan use to be "Less Tube, More View"... what the hell happened... D:
