I am Thai and I must say thank you for your comments. Those on here show much more intellect than those posting on the youtube video who merely throw insults, demanding freedom of speech.
In Thailand H.M the King is so loved and respected because of his

unending dedication to the development and well being of the country, mainly the poor. He has over 3,000 royal projects which range from artificial rain to fight drought, irrigation, dams, farming communities, dairy farms and countless others. His simple daily life and his love for the arts make him an even more astounding person. I cannot put in words why the Thais love and respect him so much but it is true and it is not a blind adoration or one created by propoganda.
No one in Thailand will dare to deface or insult the King and most everyone agrees to the blocking of youtube. It is the law of lese majeste that punished the Swiss man and that law is in the constitution which the Thai people chose to accept. So unlike what the outside world thinks, it is not the King's choosing but in fact the judicial system which sentenced him to prison.
Word here is that the govt contacted youtube to take down the video but was denied so they simply blocked the entire domain.
Please do ask me questions about the Thai opinion and I will try my best to answer.

I know in the uk, also I believe in th US defamatory remarks are not allowed or covered by the freedom of speech act.
Freedom of speech is there so that if we believe what are government or someone in our community is wrong, and say what we think is wrong.

We are (In the UK) allowed to say these things in public . Freedom of speech is not there to be abused by some idiot to call someone a bad name or to insult them, I am sick and tired of ppl claiming their right to this freedom that we have, just to insult someone.
Pease excuse my grammatical errors. its been a long day.

It's certainly the Thai's right to define what is or is not acceptable in their society. We, as Westerners, might find it absurd that they would censor millions of videos to protect themselves from one they find offensive, but it's up to them.

about this "controversy" - For all the complaining that we (and I certainly am including myself) have done in recent years about our eroding freedoms (and with good reason), at least we can still draw on pictures of W and stay out of prison.

And we've gotten pretty good at it after 6 years.
