Now you can put your friends in groups so you can easily find them! (Because we know you have a lot of friends.) Make groups like “Work Friends”, “Funny Friends”, “Favorite Friends”, or “Big Nosed Friends”.Categorize them however you like—nobody will know what group(s) your friends are in but you.

Here’s how to make a group:

  • Log in and go to "Edit My Channel"

To add friends to a group:

  • You may then select the group(s) (a single friend may be in multiple groups), and click on “Update”.

Ta dah! But wait, there’s more!

Extra special bonus: A fun new feature that lets you chose who you suggest a video to!
So you don’t accidentally suggest that sexy bikini video to your mom…

Now when you want to suggest a video to your friends, simply click on “Suggest to Friends” next to the video.
An address book will pop up with a list of all of your friends.
Here, you may sort them by group, check only the friends you wish to suggest the video to and click on “Send to Suggested”, or click on “Send to All” to suggest the video to all of your friends.

What is LiveCam?

LiveCam lets you upload video directly from your WebCam! Stream video directly from your computer to LiveVideo!

What do I need to use LiveCam?

All you need is a WebCam. Turn it on, and you're seconds away from broadcasting your thoughts to the universe.

Why should I use LiveCam?

New Feature - Post to WordPress
February 2, 2007

We now support posting a video to your WordPress blog. If you've already got a WordPress account, you can add your account by going to your Blog Settings. If you do not have a WordPress account, click here to sign up and get started. Take advantage of this feature to quickly and easily post videos to your text-based blog.

New Feature - LiveVideo Xpress
February 2, 2007

Have you ever been patiently waiting for a file to upload, and all the sudden you lose your internet connection, ruining your upload and causing you to start all over again? If you have, we have the remedy for you. Even if you haven’t, there’s still plenty to keep you interested in LiveVideo Xpress.

You get all the functionality of the traditional web based upload page, yet you get the added simplicity of an upload manager to cut down on the work you have to do to get a video on your channel. Click here to download LiveVideo Xpress.

Step 1: Hit the "Upload Photos" link next to the "Upload Videos" link on the tabbed navigation bar on the homepage.

Step 2: Click the "Browse" button to navigate to where your picture is saved on your computer, and then click the "Open" button to add the file to be uploaded.

Step 3: Fill out the title, description, and tags/keywords as you would in uploading a video.

Step 4: Select Publish Type to either public viewing (everyone can view your photo) or private viewing (only your friends can view the photo).

Step 5: Hit the "Upload My Photo" button to complete the process and send your photo to the moderators to be approved. Once approved your photo will appear on your channel.
New Feature - Photos
February 1, 2007

We're very proud to announce the launch of a very exciting new feature - Photos! Now you can upload your favorite images alongside your favorite videos. I'm here to show you how to use the photo feature so you can get your photos up as soon as possible.

Important Note: If you have added or removed sections on your channel, you will need to manually enable the photo section on your channel for it to appear. If your layout has not been altered from default settings, the photos section will automatically appear on your channel, underneath the "Our Videos" section.

We've worked very hard on this feature, so we hope everyone here in the LiveVideo community really embraces it and starts using it right away.

Highlight - Director Upgrade
Available Upon Launch

A lot of people have been writing in asking how to upgrade to a director account. All you need to do to upgrade your account is to navigate to edit my channel and then click the upgrade button under the "My Channel Admin" panel.

A director account provides producers of original content a way for others to recognize them as producers of original content on top of providing more flexibility for uploading large files. If you are producing your own content, consider making yourself a director. And as everything else on LiveVideo, it's totally free.

New Feature - Block Sender
January 23, 2007

If you've been harassed via the LiveVideo messaging system, we now allow you to block a sender directly from the offending message. Click the "block sender" button to send that sender into the black void of blocked channels. After they are blocked, they will not be able to view your channel, send you any messages, or leave comments on any of your videos. If you later feel guilty about blocking them, you can always choose to unblock them by navigating to their page and hitting the "unblock" link on the information section of their channel.

New Feature - Replies to Comments Notification
January 16, 2007

Ever find yourself wondering if anyone has left a reply to a comment you've left on a video? Well now you don't have to, simply navigate to your edit account page and check the box for the "send new profile comment" and "send new video comment" notifications. You'll now receive an email every time someone replies to a comment you've left on a profile or video.

New Feature - Disable Autoplay in Director Account
January 23, 2007

Another feature a lot of people have requested is the ability to disable the autoplaying of videos in director accounts. We now provide you with the option of enabling or disabling this feature depending on your preferences. Disabling autoplay will stop your videos from automatically playing when someone navigates to your channel (if you have a director account). This is just more proof that your suggestions are taken seriously around here, so keep them coming and we'll keep rolling out the features you want most.

New CSS Channel Customizations
January 18, 2007

Have you been wanting to customize your profile but don't know a lick of CSS? No worries, just visit LiveVideoLayouts.com for tons of customized layout codes for your channel here at LiveVideo. Once you get the code, copy and paste it into the StyleSheet Customization box of your Edit Channel Appearance page.

New Feature - 2500 Character Comment Limit
January 15, 2007

How many other video hosting sites out there give you a 2500 character limit for comments on videos? As of now, the only ones I know of give you a measly 500 characters to work with. We even include a counter that tells you exactly how many characters you have left, as you are typing. Enjoy the extra space. Have fun, and take advantage of this feature to keep the community alive and well.

New Feature - Disable Embedding
January 11, 2007

You asked for it, and we have delivered. If you don't want people to be able to embed your video on another site, we now give you the option to disable embedding when you upload your video. All you have to do is click "no" on the "Allow Embedding" section of the upload form, and voila, the embed code will not show up on your video.

New Feature - Spread This Video
January 4, 2007

Happy New Year to everyone out there in LiveVideo land. We're rolling out a very cool new feature for the new year. It's a way to help you take a video you really love and spread it all over the web. All you need to do is hit the new "Spread This Video" button, and then click on the title of the website you want to send the video to. We do all the hard work for you, all you need to do is hit a couple of buttons and the video is ready to be forwarded to any one of the sites on the list. It's a great way to expand the audience of a video you really think is worth sharing, and all it takes is a couple of clicks. Check it out, it's a great feature, and we think you'll love it.

New Feature - Developer API
December 28, 2006

All you fellow developers, I've got good news for you. LiveVideo offers open access to key parts of the LiveVideo video repository and user community, via an open API interface. Using our APIs, you can easily integrate online videos from LiveVideo's rapidly growing repository of videos into your application. After you've created a developer profile, you'll be ready to tap into the power of LiveVideo.

To create a developer profile, you must first sign up for a LiveVideo account, sign in, and then fill out your developer profile.

Hi everyone, it's Ash, the self-proclaimed employee-of-the-month here at LiveVideo. Are you feeling like your channel needs a little something to make it stand out, but you don't know what it is? Or maybe you're just tired of your current layout? Either way, check out these two new channel templates for a remedy.

New Feature – Suggest to Friends

Who’s Online
December 19, 2006

Wondering who’s online? Now you don’t have to, just check to see if the “online now” icon is next to their username. If it is, they’re online. Simple, easy, and removes the guesswork.

- Bring it with you!
December 19, 2006

Hi there, my name is Lucy and I worked on creating this really cool new feature called LiveVideo Lite. It’s a widget that will play whatever videos you add to your favorites in an external player that you can embed in any other website which accepts embedded HTML. Say goodbye to the days of embedding ten different videos in your MySpace profile. Now you can have one spot that plays all of your favorite videos, plus any other video from the site, without taking up a ton of room and ruining the layout of your page.

Feature – Add Video in Bulletin
December 18, 2006

Hey everyone, Glenn here. Don’t forget that you can add a video or two into your bulletins simply by clicking the “Add Videos” button at the bottom of the “Post New Bulletin” form. You can select from your videos, or your favorites. If you’ve got a new video up and want everyone to see it, don’t just tell them about, add it to the bulletin!

New Feature - Forums
December 14, 2006

Hi I'm Jeff, one of the developers here at LiveVideo. I worked day and night to get this feature up, so I hope you guys enjoy it.

Essentially, forums are discussion boards where you can create a topic, and have other users of LiveVideo post replies. LiveVideo’s forums are set up a little differently than the forums you might be used to. Only those with a director or entertainer account are able to host the forums on their channel. While any visitor of the channel can view what has been posted in the forum, topics on a specific forum on a director’s channel can only be created by the owner of the channel, a crew member, or a friend of the channel. After a topic has been created, replies can be posted by anyone who has an account and is logged in, and is not blocked from posting by the owner of the channel. The forums give you another way to build and interact with the LiveVideo community, so participate, and most of all enjoy yourself.

By the way, if you're a director or entertainer and you've changed the layout of your page, you have to manually enable the forum section on your channel.

Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Navigate to your channel
Step 2: Click on “Edit My Channel”
Step 3: Click on “Edit Channel Sections”
Step 4: Check the box next to “Our Forums”

Embedded Code Options
December 11, 2006

Hi, I'm Sonny, here to tell you how to customize your embedded videos.

Check the “Add thumbnail at the end of your video” box to add thumbnails of related videos at the end of the clip. Check “enable autoplay on your video” to have the clip play automatically when the page is loaded. You can adjust the width of your video by entering in the number of pixels in the “Width” box.

Once you’re done tweaking the options, use the “New Code” section to get the code to embed the video with the updated preferences you just selected.

New Flash Player Skins
December 8, 2006

Hey, my name is Robert and I'm part of the LiveVideo team. Here's a faster way to change your Flash Player Skin. Just right click on the player and then click on one of the skins on the list. Feel like making your flash player a little more festive for the holiday season? Now you can with 4 new holiday Flash Player Skins.

New Feature - Announcements
December 4, 2006

What's up LiveVideo? Do you have something you want to tell the viewers of your channel? Well put it down in an announcement! Announcements are messages that show up on your channel for everyone to see. You can write anything you want in your announcement, or even embed graphics. Keep your viewers informed about what is going on in your life, your videos, or simply use the space to help make your channel stand out from the rest. Make your page your own!

New Feature - Bulletin
December 4, 2006

So here's a new feature many of you asked for. To view and create bulletins, simply navigate to the “My Bulletin” section on the front page. Here you can view the bulletins your friends have sent you, or create a bulletin of your own to send out a message to everyone on your friends list.. To send out a bulletin, hit the “Create Bulletin” button, type in your topic and message, and then hit “Post Bulletin.” It’s as easy as that.
