While most know her as Lani Trock, Lehua Lani Pua Kea Ku-Pa'a Trock was born and raised in beautiful Honolulu, Hawaii. Never living more than a few miles from the Pacific Ocean and the beach, Lani's music has reached fans throughout the world. A fearless and brave independent singer/songwriter, Trock considers her current position in the music industry to be ‘just the beginning’.
From the age of more...three when she took the stage for the first time with her mother, Lani's passion lied in the ability to soulfully captivate her audience. When her family moved to San Diego in her early teens, industry newcomers such as Jewel and Michelle Branch were making waves in the female vocal pop charts. Lani was in search of her own sound and by the age of 15 began writing music and lyrics to compliment her voice.
In 2002 Lani relocated from Southern California to Santa Cruz where the laid-back, surf rock and reggae-influenced music scene was flourishing. She fell in love with the culture and started her creative development in writing and recording her music and lyrics. The unforgettable sultry voice, irresistible smile and personality matched Lani’s truly extraordinary talent and passion for music, love and lyrics.
Lani played a variety of shows throughout Santa Cruz, including her most memorable show in May 2005 on the Catalyst Mainstage, where she opened for Kenny Wayne Sheppard. Though the memories of Santa Cruz were hard to leave behind, Lani moved to Los Angeles in 2006. Slowly getting to know the L.A. music scene, Lani’s career began to take off by playing gigs at Molly Malone's, The Rainbow Room & Crane's and a monthly residency at Chocolat as a member of a songwriters collective. In February she performed for the first time at the legendary Hotel Cafe.
