| Wednesday, July 4, 2007 at 1:57 AM | | Hello All, Firstly, I am overwhelmed by the lovely messages of well wishes and support from all of you. When I get a chance I will thank you individually but I apologise for any delay in my replies- in the meantime: THANK YOU! So here's the story, as it seems my announcement didn't come through- I have been battling an infection for a few weeks that eventually landed me in an isolated ward in hospital for 6 days on an IV drip (Basically a herpes zoster viral infection- that caused shingles, chicken more...pox and other niceties-and was spreading quite far round my body-It felt at best very irritating at worst very painful- and wiped me out in general) The danger is that my compromised immunity may let the infection spread to major organs (no end of troubles) or to my central nervous system and brain (even less end of trouble) The IV treatment seems to have stemmed the infection and I am back home now, recovering and chilling out. However I have some new lesions starting that are confusing the docs so I am due back in for further check ups and we will take it from there. The docs were pretty concerned but I think they are just protecting against a worst case scenario of infection spread. I'm pretty sure I'll be absolutely fine soon enough, and although I am flattered by all your concern, I don't want any of you to worry! I'll be back before you can say 'anti-viral medication'! much love, milt x

| Sunday, April 1, 2007 at 11:08 AM | | Hello All, Many have asked of my current status since my hospital vids were made. Thanks for asking and here's the answer: I am currently alive and planning to maintain this situation for as long as possible. I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia in Nov 2004 at the age of 33, it came from nowhere and I was/am a nonsmoking non-drinking, healthy eating, exercise happy chappy. The cancer was so advanced that I was given a 30% chance of surviving 2 years. Well after literally 100's of hours more...of chemo, my lifetime allowance of total body radiotherapy and a full bone marrow transplant (April 2005), I am now in complete remission, living and working in London as a professional musician (guitarist, composer, producer) a music prof at the Royal Academy of Music and do some charity work and run an online leukaemia support forum. I feel healthy and happy and despite everything am not angered by my experiences, I just want to honour what life I do have left and live a live of creativity, love, music, gratitude, humour, passion and a lust for life. That'll do me. How about you? less | |
