What if you could get the help of a psychologist without the diagnosis, the labeling and the stigma, would you be interested? What if, instead of digging into your past this psychologist-coach and you focused upon how to move toward your future in a way that is consistent with your ‘core values’… would you be interested? Join the discussion. Psychologist, Dr. Charles Shinaver (Dr. Chaz) is engaging in a discussion of these topics as he develops a coaching program. It should be interesting. Come with your questions, comments, thoughts and concerns. He really wants to know what you think. He is developing a coaching program and he wants input before he jumps into the abyss... Discuss these questions with him for an hour this Sunday. If all goes well he may do an “Ask the Psychologist?” show at a later date! So be there this Sunday to let him pick your brain and maybe you can get him to agree to let you pick his brain at a later date!

take your meds
Latest post Apr 8, 08 by shescruelbutfair
as much as i don't like being on meds i have to comply...the alternative is devastating. the side effects suck but it's worth it in the long run. if i wasn't on meds i'd be dead for sure. and i'd rather be fat than dead...

Medication Or No Medication, That Is The Question
Latest post Feb 26, 08 by WeepingWillow
Ok so i thought i would post this topic to discuss.... Oct i hope yuo dont mind. I wanted to know how many of you take medication and how many try to cope without? Myself i am waiting to go onto medication in 1-3 months time depending on my next high or low. Recently though i have been thinking do i really want medication? How will it make things different? and what if i get bad side affects. I have only just recently been diagnosed and they think bipolar started for me when i was 13. When at school i didnt cope at all and i was self harming, drinking, skipping school and attempted suicide. My moods changed though once i completed education and was doing home college courses and to this day have never been as severe as when i was at school. Just recently though i have been looking into possibly going into employment and this is what makes my meds decision harder. I thought maybe stress makes it worse for me therefor i should be settled on medication before i go into work or maybe medication will make things worse. I have no idea. So my question to you all is MEDICATION OR NO MEDICATION? Luv Cat x

never easy but a good day is something to hold on to. you cannot change you mind chemistry but you can change your attitude. don't slip into the safe habis of depression don't cling to the highs. regulate your chemistry. good healthy freah ffods, everthing in moderation and hope tommorow brings a fresh perspective. bipoalr is a trap you can't overcome but to flow witrh it and maintain your sleep and meals and meds is the key. i'm a happy bipolar lady. i am speaking from the goodness of being human. i hope you will talk to me. i will listen. your friend, cathryn

WHAT MEDICATIONS DO YOU KNOW THAT HELPS WITH BEING BI-POLAR
Latest post Feb 23, 08 by luvdabun
so many meds on the market.. I find exercise helps me the most, but at times I do take a bit of help in the form of pill. Ihave lately been experminting with making videos when anger, or sadness takes over. It seems to be helping me.. I do know that people will judge you if you out and tell them that you take meds or are emotionally challenged at times.. These swings vary from so happy someone wants to smack ya to so upset not even knowing why just wanting to crawl in a warm bed cover up your head and hug your favorite fluffy thing...the question lol zanax was a a few years now I take Lorazepam ... ok its out if anyone reads this they know the lil black bunnie is emotionally challenged *blowing rasberries*

BI-POLAR ?? HOW DOES IT EFFECT YOUR LIFE AND OTHERS AROUND YOU????
Latest post Feb 21, 08 by WeepingWillow
How does it affect my life? Um....... Well firstly i feel tired all the time. When im low i can sleep upto 18 hours and when high 3 hours... so when im in a 'normal' stage its hard to catch up and get back into sync, and just when i think im ok again a high or a low will come back. Friendships are also affected. Sometimes my friends can think i dont WANT to see them, when really the matter of the fact is i dont FEEL like seeing them when low. When in a high state it is totally different, im always emailing, phoning, visiting and making plans with them. Luckly my best friend knows me for who i am and generally understands. Life in general- So life is pritty mixed, the ups and downs make me feel very tired. Its like a rollercoaster. Image the coaster taking you up and up and it feels like its gonna last forever and then all of a sudden argh!!!!!!!!!!! your plumiting down. No it dosnt always happen like this for me. Most of the time it is in fact a slow process when i swith from high to normal and them normal to low, but at the times when it is as dramatic as a sudden down it is hard to cope with. I think it is the unknown factor that maks bipolar for me alittle scary. Meds in a few months should help level things out abit more. Oct, what meds are you on? My doc is thinking about starting me on Lithium. Cat x
