I work for Pacifica Radio at KPFA in Berkeley. Pacifica has decided to cover the conventions and they have set up a web site called unConventional Coverage. Of course, it won't be unconventional enough. I have been assigned to help with posting material on the site and I have a blog in connection with it. I want to use the blog space to spread the word about how these politicians are connected to tor are members of "the power elite" groups and how they won't make real change. asylum is the basis of our country. remember all those white people from europe who came here because of religious persecution? "give us your tired and huddled masses" and so on? there is a point at which accepting the starving and war ravaged people of other countries displays the compassion which the US could do much more to display. asylum seekers are NOT criminals, they are persecuted in their own countries for religious and political reasons, and their lives are in peril if they "stay there and work on their own country".
Robin Williams is pretty funny, and makes some good points about illegal immigration and visas and such, but the undercurrent here is racist.

The NY Post is facing a lawsuit after it brazenly smeared a 9/11 truth activist for attacking a wheelchair-bound woman in New York last night, when in fact it was the activist himself who was beaten up by the girl's father according to eyewitnesses.
In the most disgusting, inaccurate and bias hit piece we have seen to date, Post writer Philip Messing claims that 18-year-old Maureen Lovetro, who has cerebral palsy, was assaulted by We Are Change member German (Gary) Talis in an article entitled BUSH BASHER SMASHES DISABLED TEEN: COPS during an event attended by Laura and Jenna Bush.
The story even features photos of the wheelchair-bound Lovetro in a crass attempt to elicit more outrage towards Talis. ...
A smear campaign is in full-swing on behalf of the Neo-Cons and the corporate media to demonize 9/11 truth and anti-war activists as dangerous, when in fact they are the victims of physical attacks and abuse on behalf of authorities and individuals like John Lovetro.
Contact the New York Post and demand they offer an immediate retraction.
